Kane a passenger, dull football for long periods (JP MOTM IMO), but the draw is panning out favourably and surely England will continue improving?
Fairly easy game to Ref, few too many soft fouls for my liking, but the Ref had a good game, made no mistakes;

Ha yeah I wasn't happy with the team or performance but it's all about the result! Got to be getting to the final now

Ref was spot on, put himself right in the frame for a semi or the final with cakir.

I noticed that, too, as it seems pretty uncommon at that level. There are some advantages to doing it that way, and it used to be the norm (which makes sense as books were used long before cards). For one it means you can pull the wallet while you're still thinking of color. And if you're going to write in the wallet anyway . . . . I suspect he also carries a loose yellow and red somewhere in case he feels the need to rapid fire the card.

(I carry a wallet with both colors and a loose card of each myself. I *thought* I was going to usually use the wallet, but in practice I usually use the loose one. [In the US we don't have the grass roots expectation of taking names before carding].)

I thought he had a solid game.

May also be that the uncertainty of his situation at Spurs means his mind is elsewhere, especially if his agent is constantly on the phone to him. If that is the case the goal will do him the world of good.

It was a bit stranger because he was writing on his yellow card that he was pulling out the wallet.

Bjorn Kuipers also uses a wallet, mostly pulls a separate yellow from a side pocket, however reds usually always come from the wallet. On the game just now Orsato is also using a wallet to record cards after they’ve been issued from a side pocket.

I’ve actually just had a referee in my league chat seriously say its never a red. Now I’m one for opinion of the referee and such but I cannot gather how he doesn’t believe its a red

Even Ljunberg (obviously a bit biased) suggested it was fine as it was basically a volley. These pundits are blinkered
