Yes they would as it was SFP rather than DOGSOWould of been interesting if VAR would of intervened if palace scored which they almost did.
Definitely foot the head. He was knocked out cold before hitting the floor. You don't really see much worse than that, not really sure how the officials missed that real time. I'm not sure if it was the foot to head that caused the injury, rather the keeper landing on Mateta as he was already on the floor. Either way though it was a shocker of a challenge.
MO gave Arsenal's MLS a red card for glancing trip but failed to even give a foul for studs to the head.
I'm genuinely shocked he missed that.
Not kick the gk in the head?asked what gk is meant to do
Given that he didn't even stop play at all I'm pretty sure he didn't see the contact. Even when he did stop play he wasn't exactly quick to get treatment on, I really think he didn't realise the keeper had made any contact. I know we've had this debate about whether referees rely on VAR, but this was such a serious act I just can't see any referee thinking that way. It has made one of the top referees in the world look incompetent, there's no way he would intentionally do that.VAR
As some members might have sensed over the years. It's an absolute scourge on the game IMO
I cannot accept that MO (or the ARs or 4O) would fail to dismiss the GK for GBH if VAR wasn't refereeing the game
I cannot accept that our best referee (team) are capable of missing that. Our best cannot be capable of that. It surely is not possible
The answer is obvious, head it rather than kick it. This wasn't some short forward he kicked in the head, Mateta is 6'4, I couldn't even get my foot that high without doing myself a serious injury.Had a Millwall fan (old school) at my game today. He asked what gk is meant to do. I explained that I understand that there was no intent but it had to be a red card.
Doesn’t matter if you get the ball or not - just so dangerous.
Was certainly my first thought when I saw it live. Why come out and kick it at that height? It's above head height so surely would've been a lot safer heading it away and probably winning a foul from colliding with MatetaThe answer is obvious, head it rather than kick it.
