The Ref Stop
Lots of new Level 3s (which I believe was anticipated due to shortages this season in certain areas!)

Not surprised at all as they were all excellent officials but I've just seen 6 refs (at least, not read the whole list) on my local Step 7 get their 4's (and one get their 3) and we were already short of 5's. Wonder how we'll manage with that this season. Better get my boots dusted off and get out on the pitch over the summer 😂

Presumably there isn’t a list of those who have unfortunately been demoted?
I don't believe they publicly name them, which is fair enough. I know of one who was offered to go specialising as an AR at step 3/4 after being reclassified from L4 - don't know if he took up the offer or not however!

Well done to everyone promoted this season! Lots of new L4s so interesting to see how many reclassifications there have been in regards to last year.

Supposed to be a tough place to be going forward.

They really pushed the e-learning this year. Making it critical you complete it all in a certain time frame.

Then increasing the observation scores required plus studying the games you put forward ensuring all are eligible.

The congratulations email said several eligible candidates put forward were knocked back also.

Im slightly out of the loop these days on how the promotion/reclassificstion stuff works, but met up with a few pals on the FL the other day and they were showing me how it all works.

It seems fairly cut throat and also pretty confusing. Believe 'at risk' emails were sent out to some National Group officials, but no idea who was given the shove.

After coming close for a few years I have finally made 3. I got a assessment day invite in January, which was a step closer, but I wasn't successful,
The feeling after not being successful in January is horrible, its not something I want to experience again, i think i would rather not be invited, as harsh as that's sounds, congrats to all

A little confused. Have you finally made it to L3, or you were invited for a L3 assessment day, but unsuccessful. If it’s the former, then many congratulations but if it’s the latter, then many commiserations though I would say with you being so close, not to give up.

He was invited in January. Missed out.
Promoted end of season.
Great work to get over the disappointment and get there in the next window.

Not sure abou the rest of you but I think the FA's approach to the retentions this year was strange - took ages to send the merit table - but no retention email - just a MOAS invite to the fitness test.

If I recall, the only time I've had a retention email since getting me L4 was last summer, which I thought was a touch unnecessary anyway as it was relatively obvious that if I hadn't been promoted or reclassified, I was being retained.

Someone i know of went for promotion this season and was not successful.

He didn't get an email telling him this but those who passed got an email saying they passed.

Is it not customary to get an email telling you you have not passed? Or is that too much effort?

Manners cost nothing.

When you say 'went for promotion', what level do you mean?

If it's 7-6 or 6-5 then it's purely down to the county FA.
If it's 4-3 or above then everyone is 'going for promotion' in theory, but wouldn't be normal to email everyone not promoted, just those that are.
Which makes me think you're possibly referring to 5-4 promotion, which is managed by the FA, however I believe (and I may be wrong) that the county FA nominate the individual to the FA, who then decide whether or not to take that individual. If that's the case, then it's a case of where did he fail? If he wasn't nominated, that's for his county to tell him. If he wasn't selected by the FA, then I'm not sure whose responsibility it would be, but I've a feeling the county may be more responsible than the FA?
