Hi I was refereeing a u14 boys game today it was the last minute of the game and striker was through on goal and then the defender wiped him out. Would you have given a red card
Do you think I should have given it then?Seems harsh doesn’t it.. where do you draw the line here about applying the laws properly or not….? I would say 99.9% of the time here I am giving a red card. Only time I’m not? Not sure until I’m there! Perhaps you could suggest to the manager that the player leaves the FOP for the remainder of the game and not actually show the red card. Will he learn not to do that for the next game this way? Unsure…
I would support a red card at that age.Do you think I should have given it then?

Yes I didn't give the card a few moans but I tried to deal with it best I couldI think you could argue either way.. sounds like you didn’t give the card .. I’m sure you managed it well whatever you did.
Yes it was dogso just outside the penalty area. Would you give it at that ageNot enough info?
Where on the pitch?
If in PA was it an attempt for the ball?
Was it even DOGSO?
If it was DOGSO, then yes.Yes it was dogso just outside the penalty area. Would you give it at that age
Even at that age?If it was DOGSO, then yes.
Yes, why would I consider their age? Especially based on how you've written the OPEven at that age?
Ok I will know for next time. ThanksYes, why would I consider their age? Especially based on how you've written the OP

Sounds a bit extra from the instructor, especially when they're present to mentor and encourage you to course completion, hardly good for your motivation at the time, surely? He tore strips off me for about a minute, I had to actually tell him to calm down and explain I wasn't prepared to be spoken to like this. The players were waiting to restart.
If that was your worst mistake, you had a good game.Thank you for your replies. From this I have learned that I have made the wrong decision and should have given the red no matter what the age. I am a 15 yr old referee so I learn from my mistakes and move on to the next game. Thanks for all the replies again
