The outcome doesn't sit right with me, finds himself over the hoardings accidentall, gets pushed, has a few words (as anyone would) then comes back. I can only assume the officials saw something that didn't happen otherwise it sets a president that could see fans engaging with players to get them booked/sent off.
We need seperate our personal thoughts here from our duties as a match official
kinda the same as if a pitch invader runs on and a player leathers him...bye bye player
The moment the player here goes in for round two with the fan, its a yellow
inexcusable he got ( assualted?) by a fan, yes
but the referee is entrusted to deal with misconduct from the players, and, has (whether we like the outcome), dealt correctly with the situation,
Ok its easy to sit watching the incident and remove the human instincts from the players act, can we understand his actions, yes
would we when playing do the same, yes/maybe
is it appalling to see the player get shoved in the first place, yes
none of which negates or nullifies our responsibility as a match official to deal correctly with the player. Regardless of the provication, incitement, the player is simply not permitted to behave like that.
Get shoved, give the boy the eye, even make a scene of it demanding ref or security get involved, fine. Take retribution yourself, not fine.
