There is an exemption if it's an injured player that's being subbed off.

"The referee may decide not to apply the ten-second time limit, including when:

a player’s injury clearly prevents them from leaving the field within that time"
It's the fact that he was treated on-field, not that it took more than 10s to leave. Therefore the minute off the FOP is transferred to the sub coming on... No?
I'm thinking the same thing happened in the Prem already this season and it caused a stir then too. Can't recall the game
Anyway, maybe I got it wrong. I found it all a bit all over the place, but first game back so I was rusty. It feels like constantly raising one's profile when I prefer to stay anonymous if I possibly can

Afraid not. If the player injured goes off, then there’s no 10 second rule and no minute off after treatment for anyone.

Yeah it’s why I can’t see the 10 second rule really working long term. Any team slowing the game down with a lead will suddenly have an injury to everyone coming off. Surprised it hasn’t happened more so far!
If it was up to me I'll make the sub wait 2 minutes. 1 minute for the fake injury time wasting and another minute for taking more than ten seconds to co.e off the field. That's sure to stop it.

I don't think there's any scenario where the minute transfers to another player. They are independent issues.

I've found that the 1 minute is working and the injuries and physio coming on is much less. But then the players who are genuinely injured are almost paying the price for the sins of their fathers. It's a shame it has to come to this

Fair enough. That's my usual one mistake a season out the way
Flawless from now on
Bit concerned I was literally blowing out my arse yesterday however. First game back, canny hot for a northerner and both sides repeatedly launching it

@Big Cat to clarify, when I said ‘for anyone’ I didn’t mean if an entirely different player receives treatment for an unrelated issue at the same time, but I think you know what I meant

No this was.... player injured, on-field treatment, hobbled off, subbed straight off, immediate substitution...
or at least it should have been if I wasn't so busy

That's interesting. I have no clue where the loss of a sub opportunity comes from in Law. And I don't see how you can get to a caution. Maybe off the player starts to go off and turns around at the last minute? But I really don't think there should be any sanction as long as the Laws say he doesn't have to go off. (That said, I'm not sure why this stays around in the Laws in the modern game. If the Game is that concerned, just change it to the player must leave the FOP once announced by the 4th.)

This may have been answered previously, but I had a scenario the other week where a player went off after treatment for a minute, no problem, but wanted to come on when the ball had gone off a few times (a big park, so it took a while to get the ball back).

Is the minute an 'in-play' minute, or when the game restarts, and does a ball going out for a GK stop the clock?

The 60 seconds off for injury isn't working. A strong sense of unfairness in the games I've been involved in
Something had to be done about the time wasting cheating, but the cure is turning out to be worse than the illness
In particular, I was AR for an FA Youth Cup game last week and the side against which most fouls were committed, felt badly aggrieved by a string of minor injuries disadvantaging them by frequently being down to 10. The Ref did what he could with C1/C3, but the high foul count left us all with a strong sense of unfairness with the TA frequently and understandably up in arms

Its solved the problem (of players feigning injury) whilst simultaneously creating a new one (genuinely injured players being punished for being injured when not as a result of a yellow card / red card challenge). A few I've had where they've done the head holding thing, jumped up when plays stopped and then shocked when they have to go off so it is serving as a deterrent / punishment in some cases but largely injury seems genuine.
I describe it as a bit like paying for the sins of their fathers.

I think what IFAB have suggested is the correct / best outcome.
The opportunities rule was brought in because lots of subs slows down the game. If the game is stopped by a team for a sub, why should that team gain the opportunity to do that again just because the player in question refuses to go off?

It is working perfectly from what I can see. Previously there were multiple occasions in every game of players going down injured only to then pop back up once play was stopped, now it it just doesn't happen.

Or course there is the side effect that players who are genuinely injured now have to stay off for a minute, but that is just a side effect. There's an argument to say that if they are hurt to the extent they need physio treatment that should take a minute to complete, given the law was always that players couldn't be treated on the pitch.

paying for the sins of their fathers
Paying for the sins of their past? If we look at it from a generational point o view.

a string of minor injuries
How did we deal with this according to the law before the one minute off? The game wouldn't stop for a minor injury. And at the next stoppage a physio can only assess them.

The new law means the 'assessment' is done by the injured player themselves in response to when we ask them if they need a 'physio'. if they are injured enough to need treatment, the one minute should not make a difference compared to what would have happened in the past. Neither when the injury is not serious enough that the player does not need treatment. The only risk I see is that a player self assessment is not as accurate as a physio but in most of the games most of us do, there is no actual physio or doctor who is doing the assessment. IMO in the case of your game, it is an issue of perception unless the referee stopped play when they shouldn't have, or the player asked for a 'physio' when they shouldn't have.

At higher levels, the referee is unlikely to stop play when they shouldn't, or the player asks for a physio when they shouldn't. The risk is players playing when really injured and from the TV games I see, this issue is minimal (compared to previous seasons).

Exempt it from under 18 football, the FA are s***hot on verbals issues but seem laissez-faire towards physical ones.
Not a referee issue but allowing micro shin-pads is an example of this culture.

You can be sure players are being instructed not to call the physio on even when they need it

IFAB had to do something & they may also introduce an outfield player going off when a goalkeeper requires treatment for the updated Laws for 2027/28 (apparently the trials have been doing well). Even if a physio is not called on, if they go to ground, then as we know, delay will lead to them going off anyway (rightly or wrongly). I do feel a bit sorry for those with a genuine injury but perhaps they should be focussing their frustration to their own clubs for perhaps allowing tactical time-wasting to manifest itself into the game.

It is working perfectly
I'm pleased for you. But I'm more interested in my customers

I fully appreciate they (my customers) are to blame (especially their goalkeepers), but I still like my customers (I'm in the minority) despite their wrongdoing and the unfairness they've brought upon themselves; which I'm not comfortable with. Not much point debating it further than that. It hasn't worked well in the games I've duelled on... maybe we've been disproportionately unfortunate in our games with the frequency of unrest, but it doesn't seem to be a respected change on TV either (although I don't watch as much as most)
