Wow... just wow.
How have the officials not seen the very high foot leading to Germanys goal?

In respect of your 2nd point - harsh imo. There certainly has been some performances that have been below par, but I wouldn’t say any have been atrocious. There have also been some very decent performances.I’m sorry, but how does the ref allow that Germany goal. What’s the point of VAR?
I’m also sorry, the the level of officiating at the group stages of this World Cup has been atrocious. (In my opinion).
There have been some good performances, but they have been the exception rather than the rule.In respect of your 2nd point - harsh imo. Aye that expert analysis just topped the debacle offalso amazed that Darren Cann
There are very similar (but not exactly the same - eg no exaggeration by the offended player) clips on the FA’s Laws of the Game tests this season whereby the outcome (they say) should be a red card.I can (just) about accept an opinion that the degree of contact was massively exaggerated by the Ecuador player and isn't significant enough for a foul given he clearly wins the ball... but if you're unsure in these situations.... football expectation... it just needs to be a foul. Surprised to be honest as I rate Penso highly, but this wasn't one of her finest moments (and the VAR must've been watching Corrie)
Surely VAR should be staying out of subjective decisions? Subjective is the polar opposite to clear and obvious, VAR should be going nowhere near subjective decisions. This one takes the cake compared to the foul on Mbappe in France v Senegal or the penalty not given against England v Ghana. It's as if VARs have been told to stay out of subjective decisions after the first one. But they should also tell the referees to not rely on VAR to save them. I'm predicting FIFA will announce at the end of the tournament VAR got 99.96% of their decisions right
Some baffeling decisions but to say that the officiating has been atrocious in the entire comp is a very very big stretch.
