The Ref Stop

Ecuador v Germany

The Ref Stop
I am surprised she never saw the foul that led to the attack for the penalty, which VAR came in to help her.
It definitely has a feel of waiting for VAR to take over rather than give something.

I’m sorry, but how does the ref allow that Germany goal. What’s the point of VAR?

I’m also sorry, the the level of officiating at the group stages of this World Cup has been atrocious. (In my opinion).

In respect of your 2nd point - harsh imo. There certainly has been some performances that have been below par, but I wouldn’t say any have been atrocious. There have also been some very decent performances.

There have been some good performances, but they have been the exception rather than the rule.

More the point, what’s var for. This was clearly a foul. No idea why var didn’t get involved. Same with penalty in England match.

This one takes the cake compared to the foul on Mbappe in France v Senegal or the penalty not given against England v Ghana. It's as if VARs have been told to stay out of subjective decisions after the first one. But they should also tell the referees to not rely on VAR to save them. I'm predicting FIFA will announce at the end of the tournament VAR got 99.96% of their decisions right 😀

Some baffeling decisions but to say that the officiating has been atrocious in the entire comp is a very very big stretch.

Just watched the highlights (as I only tuned in for the second half) and agree it was dangerous play and a free kick should have been awarded prior to the German goal.

Is it me or do I detect a heightened disrespect towards the female referees by some players? There seems to be more disdain to the instructions given at times, a reluctance to step away and an insistence to complain more closely and more persistently🤷🏻‍♂️
