On more than one occasion I've paused 1 watch for added time, and then failed to restart it... 2 watches is the only way of confidently getting out of that pickle!

I get that but nothing stopping the organisers laying down certain expectations/rules especially when it comes back to safety. Just my opinion, I also enjoy the fact it is an entertainment event/charity game and therefore comically poor challenges go unpunished etc. I can't have it both ways...

I didn’t like it that players were in jewellery etc, but equally see the charity game argument. Personally, I think the jewellery laws should be upheld even if they're going to be flexible with tolerances on handball/tackles and every other foul/decision.

Did a tournament last year got told at the end of the day by the organiser not to submit my cautions etc... Submitted the cautions and emailed local RDO who was rather interested in their demand. Protect yourself, the tournament organisers wouldn't think twice about throwing you under the bus.

Haven't seen the pen shout... the red I'm absolutely fine with whatever colour the onfield decision goes. No review recommended for escalation if yellow, no review to downgrade if red.

I wouldn't want to speculate but I actually think he was massively inexperienced and significantly out of his depth. Doesn't explain the response when given the right info though!

I had a similar (but very different) dillema at a university match with center showing 2 x yellow to the same away player and not producing a red. AR 1 - I had a full match record, home bench were doing their nut, away bench kept very very quiet. Called ref over, he insisted that he hadn't...

Slight tangent but the same idea... anyone know for definite if games etc roll over on 4W - 3W? I've had answers of all kinds but no one seems to know for definite, including local RDOs

Clubs are super protective over the pitches and footwear as they can easily extend the life of the pitch by doing so. One in my area is now a good 3 years after its "end of life" and is arguably one of the nicest in the county. Equally those that let flat shoes on etc etc barely last a year...

I think Tierney dealt with the coach approach at half time well, it very much had the appearance of "this conversation is not happening here" but without the force of "go away, there isn't a conversation to have". Just observations, obviously don't know for definite what was said by all parties...

Watched the game live on TV, thought Tierney had a decent game. Yes there were plenty of bits of "well do xyz and make my life easier next weekend" but in reality he managed the spectacle well.

For me it should be if a manager is shown a red, they are also blocked from the press interviews post match. They must send a representative/assistant. But I don't make the rules for media coverage!

Thanks for comments guys. Had the observation today... wasn't happy with my own performance, never really felt like I had total control of the game, but the observer was happy enough. Will see what they actually thought when the report lands! Main focus will be on positioning and anticipation.

I've got my first 4w-3w promotion observation this weekend, I've had a few coaching visits this season but have never had a "formal observation". Just wondering what to expect, and if there are any tips/bits to watch out for/easy stumbling blocks? All thoughts will be much appreciated.

Recently purchased a pair of b&d flags from RefStore... Any recommendations on replacement cloths? I had to get the diamond pattern due to stock, and I'm not convinced it'll last forever... So looking for a spare set, or will replace and keep the diamonds for spare.

One of the referee development coaches/trainers on the ref courses etc loves to tell the story of running the line on his kids games... at the time League One/Championship AR Saturday afternoon, ball in and out + offside Sunday morning.
