Don't agree. It's like not seeing the forest for the trees.Issue is that Maguire's blocking the AR's view of where the offside line is. Not giving something because your view is obscured is understandable
No, as there can quite easily be a defender in line with the attacker, therefore playing him onside. Point being how can an AR honestly say a player is offside when they can't see where the second last defender is?If AR is in a good position, any attacker blocking the view for offside line would be in an offside position.
The AR should adapt their position to cater for that. In this case he should have been about a yard closer to gola line. No, as there can quite easily be a defender in line with the attacker, therefore playing him onside. And that is all it can have been, a guess that someone hidden by Maguire's not inconsiderable bulk was playing him onside. I can't really see top level assistants guessing like that and it is more likely he just momentarily switched off..Issue is that Maguire's blocking the AR's view of where the offside line is. Not giving something because your view is obscured is understandable - giving it on a guess is less so.
My first step 2 line in front of over 1000 fans I disallowed 2 goals for offside, both for the same player. It is clearly a bad error from AR. , but sympathy to Leicester & to the AR.
I suspect we have all made blunders in our referee careers but not at this elite high profile level, a match defining error on live TV. He will be mortified & be with him for his whole career.
So different to a player, who can lose his team a match but make up for it in the next few matches by scoring crucial goals or match winning saves etc. A match official can follow this error with every match thereafter an outstanding 10 out of 10 but this error always highlighted as season defining.
