Misapplication of Law

Grassroots kids football so leagues are in no position to give referees a ‘rest’. There aren’t enough of us as it is.
I agree that there aren’t enough; but referees have to be held accountable in such circumstances.

Whether someone should have been cautioned or sent off wI’ll generally be down to opinion. But this is matter of fact and wrong in law. Referees cannot be seen to be untouchable.

Very uncomfortable with this bit.

Ideally clubs know the laws, referee should know them.

I suppose they wouldn’t necessarily say, but has the referee been allowed to get off with it with no comeback?
League Management Committee doesn't have any authority over referees. Whether there's any sanction against the referee will depend whether it was reported to the CFA or not.

Yep, completely aware of this. And such circumstances should be reported to them.

As I say, referees cannot be seen to be untouchable. There is already a divide between clubs/fans and referees. You cannot punish clubs in such circumstances and not the officials.

The referee has got a very very basic law wrong. I’m not saying fine or suspend them, but a ‘laws refresh’ is at least required.

Agreed. No disagreement at all. I think the issue is logistics of the referee being re educated.

One youth league cup i referee on goes straight to penalties (no ET) at full-time.

PLUS it's only THREE penalties each. IF still level after 6 penalties the SAME 3 players take part in sudden death in the same order as the first three and so on until someody misses.

A lot of pressure for 3 players at youth level i feel.

Not even close to law and I am very surprised a county FA sanctioned those as competition rules.

I found it strange but it's in the CR's.

Somebody from the CFA is also on the committee of this league.

"If scores are level at the end of the duration of play, there will not be any extra time. The outcome shall be decided by the taking of penalty kicks.

(i) Three penalties shall be taken by each team. The team scoring the most penalties will be adjudged the winners.

(iii) Only players on the field of play at the end of the normal game are permitted to take penalties.

(iv) Should the scores be level after both teams have taken three penalties each, the outcome will be determined by sudden death penalties. Only the original three penalty takers are permitted to take penalties in the sudden death, and this must be in the same order the three previous penalties were taken in. Penalties will be taken until a team has been determined as the winner."
