Am I the only one not to be promoted?

Supply League Referees List (Level 4)



Following the Level 5-4 promotion meeting held on 28th April 2016, I am writing to inform you that you have not been promoted to Level 4 for season 2016-17.



As you will be aware, the criteria for promotion to Level 4 stated:



“County FAs will nominate to The FA the names of referees who meet the minimum criteria for promotion to the Supply League Referees List (Level 4).


In addition to information relating to on-field performance, the number of games officiated during the marking season, availability, fitness and administration will be amongst the other factors that may be taken into consideration when determining if a referee is promoted.


An FA Panel, chaired by a member of the FA Referees’ Committee, will consider all referees who are nominated and will decide, based on the information supplied and the national need for Supply League referees, which referees will be promoted to the Supply League Referees List.”


On receipt of the submissions from your County FA, I can inform you that you were ranked outside the numbers required and therefore missed out on promotion.



This decision does not preclude you from applying for promotion in future seasons.
 
They're quite blunt and brutal really aren't they!
 
Congratulations to all who have been promoted. From experience I know what a brilliant feeling it is!

That's because you really are just a number to them at that stage.....the only thing that matters is availability and performance, sometimes one much more than the other......will leave you to work out which one it is!

Well done to those promoted .... Can someone explain why L4 is such a big deal though? Google-y stuff is vague......
 
Once promoted to Level 4, you are on the FA's National List of Referees - it represents a big step up from Level 5; you're working in a team of 3 every week and when lining on the contrib, can be officiating in front of three and four-figure crowd numbers. A big step up from one man and his dog at local level!

You're regularly assessed and is just generally a big step up in a referees' career.

1.30 seems reasonable, hopefully it's not quite as warm as it's been the last few days! Still a chance Carlton could win the league as well

1:30 sounds good to me, I'll probably be there a bit early since as a new driver I'll be leaving with plenty of time

I don't think they formally allocate leagues until the fitness tests are passed. Remember for this test as well you also need to pass a blood pressure test taken in the 14 days prior to the fitness test. You wouldn't believe the number of new level 4s who fall foul of this because they forget the card / don't fill it in properly / don't have the GP stamp or signature, etc. And make sure you turn up on time, if the test is scheduled to start at 9am it will start at 9am, a few seconds late and you won't be allowed to take it.

Commiserations to those who haven't. Last season nomination was enough, and just averaging 73 would get you there, unfortunately this season they didn't need as many new level 4s. Onwards and upwards ...
