Strangely, when I was 9, he did referee a few games. Terrible towelling tracksuit, no doubt smoking like a chimney. I was proud of him but ignored him like any aspiring footballer!

The much mentioned on here option of acting as AR to experienced higher level referees on better leagues is also an option to explore

This really helped me. Not just learning from a better ref but seeing that even really good refs having great games get exactly the same sort of nonsense from players as I do. It made me realise that it's nothing to do with my performance - this is just how players are. Smile.
