Why play added time at 4-0? Neither teams wants it, and the law of sod dictates that if you don't something will happen that causes controversy and / or someone picks up a serious injury. Not technically correct, but sensible refereeing for me.
We na, but it's not Sunday League. Can't tear another page out the book in favour of common sense IMO
Can't recall the last time an elite R blew on 90 exact. Denmark would've welcomed any suspension picked up in the added time. I know there's a time & place for everything, but surprised to see Brick do it at this level. P:erhaps he knew he had a flight home to catch?
(although I thought he did ok)

The Ref Stop
The welcome was based on your "New Member" tag, which you may care to update now you are a regular.
The reply was not condescending, but guidance for a Level 7 referee who was saying a very experienced international referee had made a KMI error, but who had not added any reasoning. Debates on this forum, as you will know, benefit from the reason for the poster's viewpoint being shown, so others can counter or comment or support.
That's not self selected. It updates automatically, I assume based on number of posts 😏

I don’t think it presented well that Soucek played the last 10 mins with a lot of blood down his neck.
I thought that but then thought the concerns about blood date from the risk from HIV, and we have far greater risk now just from being in the tunnel.

The officials have clearly been told they can use more common sense, the caution count has been really low and there have been lots of fouls that would normally be cautioned for SFP that are just now free kicks. Brych wouldn't have blown up bang on 90 minutes if he thought it would cause him any problems. And for me that is right, referees are there to support the game, so if no one wants or expects any added time why surprise them? Obviously it is different if the score is closer or goal difference comes into play, but that wasn't the case here.

Cautioned for SFP? ;)
According to @refchat on fbook Brych has been awarded SF1 Italy V Spain so obviously it hasn't caused him any issue.
Which means, unless we don't make it, we can only hope for English 3rd place match ref.

There isn't a third place playoff!

Brych getting Italy Spain is quite a surprise. Why not give that England quarterfinal to someone who had a really good tournament? If you knew you were going to give a Brych a semi-final even after an iffy performance.

You are right.

Brych blows up on 90 and a few secs with Ukraine wanting to blood three subs. Bizarre.
If it’s a group stage game where goal differential or goals scored is a tiebreaker, then play the extra time.

This was a knockout game with a 4-0 score line and everyone just wanting things to end. No issues at all ending it right at 90 in this case.

Meant SPA

Feel sorry for Cakir especially
Agreed - Brych hasn't been at a semi-final standard, and has also had both a last-16 and quarter final match. Cakir, Kuipers and Makkelie for the two semis and final would have been a fair reflection from what I've seen, although I don't think either of our English official teams have done much wrong either.

Agree with all that.

Think by the next euros makkelie, Taylor and Oliver will have taken over as the top three refs.

Can't fault Kuipers for getting the final but Cakir has impressed me massively over the last couple of years. Also looks like he could continue for years to come.

Then again, I'm also a Turpin fan so my opinions might be iffy on this matter
