Yes it is very interesting. I think I would be doing what was done in the clip.
Defender commits the foul first, however the attacker is probably on borderline VC, so that's probably the only variation that I'm a bit torn in what I would do as the referee.

Free kick to the attacking team for the first offence, the original hold by the defender. Yellow card each for the two players involved.
