The Ref Stop
Pretty stupid because they’d probably face forfeiting the game or even points deductions for repeat offences
In this case the offending spectator (I don’t really want to call him a supporter because he is not what a true supporter should be) appears to have been from the Away club who were winning at the time, so perhaps in this case it’s also a wake up call. There are conflicting reports as to whether or not the culprit was identified & evicted from the ground.

I don't know what was said. Perhaps it was vile enough that the female Referee felt unable to continue
Unless that's the case and the incident was of a very serious nature, I'd be much more in favour of going through the discrimination protocol (which is also apt for prejudice). To be clear, very stern action was warranted, but abandoning the game should always be a last resort

Allegedly it was one word, but could have been repeated on more than one occasion.

My mind is not warped enough to guess that word

Interestingly, I've been watching 'Mad Med'. Based in the 60's, astonishing how much Society has changed since then with respect to gender divide

Anyway, if the protocol was enacted instead, everyone would be on the side of the Referee. By abandoning, the message will be lost on some spectators because of their personal grievance/disappointment. Some will switch focus to deriding the referee at a perceived over-reaction
My view is that the protocol delivers the message more effectively than bypassing straight to abandonment because nobody is alienated that way
