The Ref Stop

Cold!

Getting warm pre match is not, or should not be an issue...
A well timed and suitable WARM UP, should resolve your apparant issue
Fail to prepare? Prepare to fail.
You're right. If a touch on the self righteous side ;)

Any tips for getting ready for the first 5 mins of the second half oh guru? That's the time I sometimes struggle with on particularly cold days / evenings ...

The Ref Stop
Suppose that depends on whether its a quick 5 min public park turnaround Sunday pub match or a regulated 15 min back to the changing room senario.
Key though to either, is keep moving. Esp in the dressing room situation, its common place to see referee or AR grab the bench next to the heater and fire into the wine gums or grab the mobile phone. Keep on the move, get hydrated, even on cold days where you dont feel you need water. Public park games, have your trackie top avail, get it on asap and stay warm. The longer you stop moving, the longer it will take you to get moving again...

Also, the number esp of ARs who dont feel the need for water at half time is staggering, your doing 90 mins of exercise afterall, and, its not just for the heart, its for the brain also.
