Seem a big gap between fixtures I some times could have 3 appointments in that time before a club marks is on the system. From memory its about 10 days post game. So if it's a Saturday it'll be the Wednesday e.g. games from 5th September will show on 16th September
Should club marks be a major concern?Seem a big gap between fixtures I some times could have 3 appointments in that time before a club marks is on the system.
But what does it matter about the other fixtures. Every club, every game is different. It shouldn't impact how you go out and referee. You've also got to remember club marks now only account for 10% of your overall position. More weight is on observer marks and the module / LOTG assessments.Seem a big gap between fixtures I some times could have 3 appointments in that time before a club marks is on the system.
As you say, each to their own. Not saying anyone should or should not be eagerly looking them up, just worth reflecting on the value / pain you get from them, which will be different for different referees. I sleep better just ignoring them, but that's just me.I'm logged in shortly after midnight every Weds
Two more 90s in the bag helps me sleep like a baby
Anyway, what business is it of anyone if another ref chooses to engage with club marks or not?
Over an entire season, they equate to my overall self reflection just as well as observer marks on account of the fact that it's possible to get ten times the number of scores and i believe in the 'law of big numbers'. Referees are far too dismissive of them, whereas i value my 'customer satisfaction' scores even if many of them are not to my liking. In the long run, there's a nack to doing bettrr with them and it starts with giving the marks at least some rsspect
The OP was worried about not getting club marks before their next couple of games. That made me wonder what they would do when marks arrive - change their style, worry about clubs' comments?I'm logged in shortly after midnight every Weds

This isn't true, because MOAS is always unavailable shortly after midnightI'm logged in shortly after midnight every Weds

If the FA used the appropriate statistical measure of average ie median instead of mean*
As a maths geek I think you were correct originally in that ‘average’ in every day life most commonly means ‘mean’ (or at least it does to me) but the mean, median and mode are all averages!Love that, yes, average in every day life more often refers to 'mode' than it does 'mean'!
Not bragging like.... well go on then... bit of bragging here, but I was on the 10th percentile last year for club marks (over 18 games), which might explain my positive relationship with club marks
My mean of 77.5 would've been a median of 79.5. That's an enormous difference considering a sample of 36
Which demonstrates the impact of those ridiculous rogue low scores which cause the vast majority of referees to lose faith in club marks
My lowest ever score over 4 years was 60.5. That one score wrecked me
I didn't have a bad game from memory. But it kicked off after the final whistle and one of the players came out the dressing room with an iron bar!!!
Big Cat took a dismal view of such behaviour!
Where club marks are concerned, median represents 'majority opinion'
Mean represents 'luck'
