    Cro V Mor

I thought he was a good ref but his lack of sanctions when being physically pushed around was frustrating to watch. I felt he needed to wave at least 2 yellows to 2 players or even one red to the one who pushed him, take a step backwards and wipe that smile off his face. That would have made...

    Cro V Mor

That second paragraph above is my own, I'm on my phone and for some reason it won't let me write my text outside of the quote area

    Cro V Mor

I think its good that games spread about. We wouldn't have Slovenian, Romanian, Norwegian refs etc if we only focused on refs from the big leagues like Taylor et al. I enjoy seeing ref teams from the small footballing nations to be honest.

    FRA vs MRC

This ref appears to be going to great lengths to avoid giving any yellows!

    RMA vs LIV

I too thought the FK at the end should have been played. It takes 30 secs tops and would have made up for minor time wasting in the 5 mins stoppage. I thought a yellow for SPA against a RMD player was missed in the 1st half, looked like he tried to manage it. Unless some very generous...

    RMA vs LIV

Just seen another replay, I can see he goes to put his right foot in to tackle before it, misses it, then it bounces off his left knee, I suppose that touch was not deliberate which may explain it .. even though he no doubt intended to play it just not with his left knee

    RMA vs LIV

To me the liverpool player's last touch before it went to benzema was a deliberate attempt to play the ball -> am I missing something?

    Open Age Man Management

Just to add, confidence is absolutely everything. You may not always know what you are doing, the trick is to LOOK like you know what you are doing. These people we ref haven't the slightest clue of the LOTG, sell sell sell, you sell with confidence. I learned all this on this lovely forum. I...

    Open Age Man Management

Think of the world famous refs, how many of them are physically imposing? Not a whole lot. Mike Dean, Oliver, even Collina, yes he was tall with bulging eyes but he had twigs for arms and was like a skeleton, yet managed to exert total control over games. You actually don't want to be too big...

    Real Madrid vs Man City

I'm pretty sure the LOTG state a referee can play more than the additional time they indicate, but not less. How did he blow up at +2:50 when +3:00 was indicated?

    I took a trip to Specsavers ..

That's good to know they worked for you eventually. This is my second go at them, had tried them some time ago and I couldn't see clearly, my vision was a bit better so I just gave up on them. This time I do really need them to work though, being farsighted I'm told it makes the variation in my...

    I took a trip to Specsavers ..

Well the lines were right for once I guess, I should have taken a trip to specsavers a bit earlier :D :D Turns out my astigmatism has gotten stronger. I have noticed I'm squinting a bit more and often things are a bit more blurry than they used to be. This really hit home when I was AR and...

    Liverpool vs Benfica vs offside

He ruled 2 goals offside that VAR later showed to be onside => issue is they were at least a yard or 2 onside, certainly not hairline .. interesting debrief I imagine

    Liverpool-Inter

I got to the end of this thread scratching my head thinking why nobody else has said the 2nd yellow should have been a red. Surely it meets the criteria!

    Offences off the FOP

I believe the first offence must be punished, so IDFK for leaving the fop without permission. Is this good for a summary? 1. Ball in play, player leaves FOP and commits an offence against anybody: The restart is an IDFK and then a yellow/red depending on offence. 2. Ball in play...

    Offences off the FOP

That's fair, one hopes the writers of the exam won't be referencing the FAQs 😂

    Offences off the FOP

Thank you for that .. why then is the IDFK restart to be on the point of the boundary line closest to the VC, and not the point at which the player left the FOP without permission?
  18. R

    Offences off the FOP

So the restart is in fact for leaving the FOP, not for the VC? This was my previous understanding (punishing the first offence) My follow up question then is why is the IDFK taken from the point on the boundary line nearest to the striking, and not the point at which the player left the FOP...

    Offences off the FOP

See this is what I thought too and it was all dandy up until I was told I was incorrect and in actual fact IFAB say it too. They write "the offence (striking)" => they are punishing the striking, not the leaving the FOP

    Offences off the FOP

Well I was hoping there was some logic to it that was escaping me and someone could explain what it was 🤣 Thank you, I will have a look. I've got an exam this evening, everything is making sense to me except these scenarios. It's all well and good memorising questions and answers but nothing...
