3 games in & im not convinced..

I'm not sure if not using CAR is an option in my league. In my two games so far, CAR have caused more grief than support, they change around a lot and some of them have been decent while others issue after issue. I am starting to understand the cynicism towards them on here! Anyway, onwards and...

3 games in & im not convinced..

@Men in Black - I feel as though I've started in a similar position to you. A bit older than the normal referee starter, I've got an extensive history within the game (albeit as a coach more so than a player) and I've dived straight in to Open Age football. It's been reassuring to read this...

    First game incharge

I've just done my ref training in Norfolk and we're encouraged to use the club assistants and work with them. in/out and offside.

Signed up for referees course - starting next Sunday!

I'm registered with Norfolk FA and appointed by the Norfolk Referees Appointment officer so I'm treated the same as if I'm a Level 7 referee, although we are technically Level T (trainees). As long as you are appointed by the FA, you will have no issues. I have triangular feet, wide toes! So...

VERY last minute game - eventful!

So you'd go without an AR just because they wore glasses? Ridiculous. I wear glasses (at the moment, I'm going to go back to lenses). Observer had no issue with that yesterday and nor should he. Though I'm just starting out. Player and ref equipment is different. They're playing a contact...

Signed up for referees course - starting next Sunday!

First game done :). Played on a 3g pitch, ended as a 7-1 win for the away side. No cards needed. Lots of handshakes after the game so I must have done alright. I could have handled substitutions better and use out of play time to get into position quicker, but overall I was quite happy with it...

    First game

Best of luck Natalie! I also have my first game tomorrow, men's football!

New Grounds and 4G (or 3G)

On our referees course practical we played on a 3G (or 4G, I can't tell) pitch. On my first darting run with the ball down the wing I lost my footing and fell over :p:eek::D. I was wearing my new plastic moulds for hard ground, within about 15 mins or so I'd got used to the pitch. In my...

Signed up for referees course - starting next Sunday!

Hi all I've now completed the input part of the referees course, really enjoyed it. There were 12 participants, 7 youngsters (14-17) myself and the rest were older guys who were involved in youth football (40/50+). Tutor was really helpful and approachable. Now I've got to get my 5 games in...

    Despair

Definition of a big club in England: currently playing in the PL! £100m+ tv money sees to that.

    Darren Ferguson’s Comments

Fergie Junior has always been a whinging ****er. I hope he gets the fill force of the FA, complete lack of respect and in this day and age, where it's possible that a loon could take fergies advice into his own hands, it's very, very poor practice...

    Despair

As a Cambridge United fan, I have no sympathy for anyone who supports a side who have played in the PL. Oh I wish we were.

    Non-driving referees

Yeah you're right I don't think from a legal point of view youth refs CRC are really required, but I guess it helps. It's not like you spend time alone with the kids and you're in a public arena. Getting it done anyway.

    Non-driving referees

The instructions I've been given by Norfolk FA is that you only need CRC if you're officiating youth football, not OA, despite 16/17 year olds being able to play OA football. I'm getting it done anyway, would be silly to rule out the option. I've got the bug for getting involved in football...

    Non-driving referees

Oh yeah, I've been there a lot. Usually I had an assistant coach that drove or I had more control on the training venues so I could ensure we were somewhere I could get to. My safeguarding, first aid and CRC are all out of date so I'm as much a coach as the dog walkers :D It does happen...

    Non-driving referees

Course starts 21st Jan and I will be ready to ref from Saturday 3rd Feb as will have finished the first 4 units on Sunday 28th Jan - I guess that's when I officially become a level 9 trainee ref as Unit 5 is officiating 5 11v11 (or 9v9) games. On another note, my course has 12 candidates on it...

    Non-driving referees

good to see I'm not the only one! I'm hoping my appointment officers are accommodating :) I live in Downham Market, Norfolk. Not so much in the way of buses, but I can get on the train to King's Lynn or Cambridge and all the stations inbetween and I can get connections to other parts of...

    Non-driving referees

I thought as much. I've been meaning to get round to learning to drive and this may be the spur that's needed. In the meantime I'd be very happy to do any game I could get to on the train line.

    Non-driving referees

Hey all Once hindrance I feel I may find as a referee is that I don't drive. I wasn't interested as a teen, couldn't afford it / had no time whilst at uni and now I don't need it for my job so I've never got round to it. I'm a 27 year old non-driver, do I need to learn if I want to progress or...
