    Man U v Brighton

Uniteds third goal - shirt pull on Rutter. Obviously he does that annoying fake trip nonsense we see for upper body contact but you cannot say that pull hasn’t impacted him and stopped him challenging for the ball. If I see that much of a ‘triangle’ on a shirt pull and that impact I’m giving...

    Women’s FA Cup

More of a humble brag than anything else but got my first ever middle on a Women’s FA Cup proper round game! It’s been a goal of mine for years and I wasn’t expecting it this season, it’s the highest ranked side v the lowest ranked side in the draw so will be an interesting game.

    Slurs in the car

Not sure how to approach this one. When travelling with another referee a couple of weeks ago they repeatedly used a slur for disabled people and it left me a bit - to my shame - tongue tied. If that’s a player or club official at the game I’d put a report straight in as is right - but I...

    Ladies Best game ever?

8-0 away win in a regional ladies game for me today. Three yellows so not totally boring, although I was a bit of a ******* giving the first one for delaying the restart. Slightly forgot it wasn’t the national league! But it was also the most well spirited and enjoyable match to referee...

    Gillingham diving suspension

I assume this was televised in some way! A gillingham player has received a two game ban for SIMULATION? Not sure if he was on a yellow but if not this would have been “just” a yellow if a sanction were given on the pitch. I don’t hate it - I’m just surprised.

    Lightning

Currently sat in my car on minute 7 of a lightning delay - reset two minutes ago so another 28 to go! Besides the tolerance of teams and myself - is there a maximum time I can wait before abandoning?

    Man Utd v Arsenal

Didn't watch the whole game so now clue about the overall performance but I thought a potential penalty missed late on... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/live/c776d3e5e67t 05:40 above for UK viewers. As the ball lands at Cunha's feet I feel Saliba goes through the back of him - no...

    EFL OFFINABUS

About 3-4 times he should be off for this, looking forward to more baffled players at Tier 4 when I send someone off for this because it doesn't happen in these games. Frustrating.

    Head Injury (Den v Ger)

Watched this incident yesterday: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/videos/c07d540jv42o My first thought was why didn't the referee stop the game? I've had incidents just like this and the advice from this forum and observer was to stop the game for things like this. The player isn't moving!

    Inductions

Thinking aloud a bit here but given the Women's pathway jumps from County level to National League - it's a bit contentious that there's no induction for new level 3Ws? Or even existing ones to refresh standards/embed new expectations. Especially given all the changes the game is going through...

Base layer with buzzer flag pocket

Are there any alternatives to this nifty base layer with pockets for buzzer flag units? https://www.therefstop.co.uk/product/match-official-baselayer-pro-puma/ The straps give me a rash so I’m tempted!

    BTN v NEW

Caveat as usual that I'm a Brighton fan, hence the late post as I wanted to take a day to make sure I wasn't reacting emotionally. Two incidents in this game have me questioning things: Firstly, Tonali on Matt O'Riley... The angle of this video isn't ideal but Tonali just kicks through the leg...

    "It's not a fashion show!"

Title of this thread is my fave comment on this forum - we really do not need the newest kit or the flashiest equipment to look the part and be great referees. But what are the most 'luxury' buys you've seen? Inspired by AH introducing personalised Whistles recently!

Missed stamp - Laverstock v Portland

Portland United in the news again... Not sure how no officials saw this stamp, or at least the afters?

Ladies Managing dissent or losing my rag?

Had Womens game this afternoon, couple of interactions with the away bench. 1. Usual calls for push in the back, one right in front of me, I briefly explain to the appealing bench that there’s a difference between a hand on someone and a push. They’re convinced any hand contact is a foul...

    Watford v Lewes

Saw this challenge from both angles, this one is much closer to the referees angle and I’m guessing he went yellow because of direction and defenders? I think I could justify both yellow and red to an assessor. Welcome any thoughts because I’ll get asked about this one on my next WNL game

    Baleba second yellow

Am I right in thinking VAR cannot get involved for a second yellow red card? Because this seemed incredibly soft and not what I would ever call reckless (About 1:50)

    managing big crowds

I have a game this weekend at a championship level stadium with 6000+ fans expected, previously I've refereed in similar grounds but with a few hundred at most and many of those children/families. I'll be 4th but welcome any tips from our more experienced officials on staying focussed and...
