They've just told RDOs that they are accepting nominations for mid-season. If you've met the criteria by 31st Dec, your county needs to send details by 9th Jan. They will make decisions on 16th Jan.
I am one of these league volunteers that also has a fulltime job. I would be mortified if I got a phone call from a spare referee that I'd replaced without telling him, I would have apologised profusely and made sure he was paid.
This secretary was contacted by the referee and apparently did...
I would email the fixtures sec and explain that since you were removed from the match without having been informed that you would like the league to pay your travel expenses and 50% of the match fee (which is what you get if you turn up and it's called off).
If the answer is no I would find...
I have reported similar behaviour in the past - a coach clearly getting way over the top angry with a youth player (I was a there as a parent, not a ref.) Turns out it was the coach's son he was yelling at. I bet their household is a fun joint.
Your county will be told I would guess within a week. However, if you are a level 8 as your profile suggests this is not pertinent to you, we are talking about 5->4 promotions.
The FA refereeing dept had a meeting to decide on this (for all counties) this morning. There will be an announcement in the next week or so. It sounds like it's going to be a yes, for all counties, but possibly with conditions attached.
The actual online modules are not ready yet. What they're doing instead is delivering a classroom-style online presentation with videos and questions and discussions.
Only a few counties have agreed to do this so far because it's quite a lot of extra work for the RDO. A number of candidates...
He was a dick. When we did the bit after the 5 games he told a story - which I have absolutely no doubt was totally made up - about going into the home team changing room after a match and throwing the coins they'd used to pay him back at them because they had treated him badly on the pitch...
1. Players are not allowed to interfere with the release of the ball from the hands. IDFK is the correct restart. In practice I use a pretty liberal interpretation of this. Let the GK take the kick unmolested. I think you got this right.
2 & 3. I would not caution for that comment unless it's...
On the first of my qualifying games right after completing the course one of the course instructors was observing me. It was U13 and a player saved a goal with his hand (not the GK).
On the course we had had a discussion about cards in youth football. My takeaway was that a red card offence...
I've been refereeing for 10 years and I do this. In cases like Rusty describes when you're facing play and the ball gets hoofed and by the time you look the attacker is 5 yards off but could easily have been on when the ball was played I'm giving it.
However, I've learned that when a player is...
The above advice mostly assumes you have ARs. If you don't, being left of play is not important. I tend to actually go wide and deep when I don't have ARs the better to judge offsides.
The other factor is the sun. If it's out and low I try to stay up-sun of the play.
This is the heatmap from...
My threshold for 'serious' is much lower for youth games. at U10 if they go down and I don't think they're faking it I'm likely to stop unless there's a possibility of a shot.
Quite often U10 players really do fake it, not as a way of stopping play or to win a foul but because they're annoyed...
We clearly have very different ideas about what constitutes complexity,
There are plenty of examples of genuinely poor wording in the laws, this is a long, long way down the list.
