    Burnley vs Liverpool

Salah is pushed in the penalty area, thus making him offside, thus meaning the goal is disallowed. Therefore, if Salah had not been pushed, Liverpool would have had an obvious goal scoring opportunity , therefore the push denied an obvious goal scoring opportunity. The push was not an attempt...

    GK RED CARD...WAS I RIGHT !!!!!

    Q. Why would you have given a red card A. For denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity but a goal was scored, so the opportunity was not denied, so no red card you called it right, well done

    Barnsley vs Wycombe

Changing the scenario a little …. What would you do if: Striker bumps the keeper (as per video) Keeper falls to ground and drops the ball (as per video) Keeper regathers ball Is this not double handling from the keeper, and therefore warrants an IDFK?

    DBS

You need a separate DBS for every “entity” you work for. As a teacher, I have a DBS through my school, but I also need (and have) another one through the FA for refereeing. (As a referee, I don’t think you will have to pay for the DBS. My county pays for referee DBS s)

    2 minutes silence

Only just seen this, so the ship has sailed (for this year at least) but I seem to recall when I did a Sunday league a few years ago, the normal kick off time of 10.30am was put back to 11am on Rembrance Sunday. a sensible solution I thought

    What do I do pre-match?

Depends how dependent you are on your glasses. I wear glasses when driving (and, for example, when I go to the cinema) but will take them off as I approach the ground (and similarly, not pop them on until I’ve driven out off the car park after the game) - it just helps the optics (pun intended)...

    Goal keeper drop kick

Which was exactly my suggestion earlier in thread. if attacking players have to be outside the penalty area when the ball is in the keepers hands it completely negates this problem. Even if the attacker tracks the keeper across the front of the penalty area, all the keeper needs to do is take...

    Goal keeper drop kick

Going off on a bit of a tangent, I’ve often thought the solution to this question is to mandate that when the goalkeeper has the ball in his hands attackers must leave the penalty area, like for a goal kick. Would get rid of all these problems at the stroke of a pen.

    Drop ball

Lots of great (and correct) replies. Without wishing to throw our colleague under the bus, I think it’s a great clip for us all to remember why “no surprises “ refereeing is so important. We don’t know if he was frustrated with the teams not coming back onto the pitch, but re-starting the game...

    Drop ball

I think this is a great clip for a learning/training point of view - lots to think about. I suggest you watch the clip first and ponder on it yourself before reading any comments, either in the twitter thread or this thread, and decide what you’d do/would have done before commenting yourself or...

    Brighton Luton

Great advantage as it ultimately led to a goal in open play!!! (I’m a long, long way off PGMOL too!) (only joking - no pile on please!)

    The games changed!

Yesterday was my first game of the season. Unlike many on the forum, I quite enjoy pre-season friendlies, and for the first half, this was no different: two good teams, playing good football and everyone, myself included, enjoying the game. Five minutes into the second half and, without...

Player kicks 2nd ball at opponent to stop an attack

He could have been checking with VAR to see if the balls collided inside or outside the penalty area?

Dropped ball and the end of the half.

I actively do this - if you don’t the ball’s likely to remain in the hedge. I remember a few (several!) years ago, I‘d not been long on my Sunday league, and was doing two teams I hadn’t refed before. We all know the end of the game Is coming when the ball gets hoofed off the pitch. I’m near...

    8 games...

February was dryer than average, but cold, (can’t remember the exact stat), but March has been the wettest in England since 1981, so can understand why plenty of games got cancelled this month. (It (March) has also been one of (if not the) dullest on record - ie very little sunshine) I must...

    Goalkeeper challenge

If the keeper still has the ball in his hands, I will often say something along the lines of: ”I’ve seen it, definite foul and would be a free kick but I’m happy for you to play on as its better to play from hands than have a free kick” Most keepers would rather play from hands - and can move...

    Unpick this!

This popped up in my twitter feed: Who’d be a ref?!

    Port Vale vs Accrington

Assuming you didn’t blow “quick enough” and the goal went in, and you give it, what do you give the defender? Yellow card or no card? Genuine question

    Feyenoord Goalkeeper

Ok, so no way do I think that the player throwing the ball should be seeing red, but for those of you that are … ….. could/should the keeper not therefore be red carded for a DOGSO offence?

    True Story...

(Honestly, the history of zero is really quite interesting. The Romans didn’t have a concept/numeral for zero) Good joke btw
