    Wigan v Cardiff

As a QPR fan who goes regularly, I remain unconvinced about this 'best league' tag that is bandied about the Championship - it just isn't - mainly due to the fact its a 46 game season.

    Wigan v Cardiff

Bear in mind we are talking 2 inches here, are we seriously saying we expect the referee to measure the height of the goal to that tolerance? That means either a ladder and tape measure or a laser - is that really taking place before every professional match? I'm not convinced by the GLT...

    CRY CHE Dogso

We've been here before with blatant trip, kick or occasional wrestle a fair way from goal. Don't get drawn into fans/pundits speak of 'cheating' - agree with others, yellow or red justifiable in law, but not because he 'deserved' it!

Manager's knowledge of LOTG Part 635

See what you mean - but this is hardly a 'technical' one is it? Ifs Mrs Pinner says, "What's that got to do with it" hearing the interview, then believe me its NOT a technical one! :p ;) Sorry dear!

Dutch Referee Blog - Week 5 Laws of the Game Quiz 2022-2023

See what you mean, but it didn't look a deliberate action to me. Agree with the decision made on the day - pen and no card.

It was on Womens Football Show (Last episode) - so will be on iPlayer.

    Thanks Ross, much appreciated

Dutch Referee Blog - Week 5 Laws of the Game Quiz 2022-2023

Can see that in other cases, but that didn't really apply here. Defender's arms were up but not in a 'blatant' way - if that makes sense!

Dutch Referee Blog - Week 5 Laws of the Game Quiz 2022-2023

I agree, was just using the premise others have used to justify a yellow here, I agree with you, as I said above, struggling to justify a yellow for handball such as this, on or off target.

Dutch Referee Blog - Week 5 Laws of the Game Quiz 2022-2023

I realise that the LOTG language can't always be taken literally, but in no sense, to a referee or non referee is a shot heading for the stands over the cross bar a " promising attack"

Dutch Referee Blog - Week 5 Laws of the Game Quiz 2022-2023

It wasn't on frame though - the angle of the shot meant it was going over the bar.

Dutch Referee Blog - Week 5 Laws of the Game Quiz 2022-2023

This is the one I put in the other thread "Managers LOTG" - it was clearly going over the bar, not relevant for the penalty (despite the City manager's opinion!) but surely its not a card? What is the actual offence that warrants a yellow - USB, of course, but then what? "Other" presumably -...

2022/23 Laws of the game - hard copy

Nor me. Whilst I appreciate the effort Ross and the difficulties, I don't think its unreasonable to expect a delivery 5 1/2 months after the offer. Any update would be appreciated Thanks

Manager's knowledge of LOTG Part 635

Bear with me this is a good one. Man City Women's manager said he didn't think a penalty should have been awarded against his team because the shot was going over the bar, finished off with this classic "....unless I've got the rules wrong, make of that what you will":eek::p Edit -...

Looking to buy new pair of boots, recommendations?

I bought Kaiser 5 for the first time and they are so comfortable. Pricey at £90 from a local sports shop though and that included a 10% discount because I bought my previous season's boots there. Just to add my previous boots were Pumas, they 'only' lasted a season, but I did do 64 games, so...

Whats the earliest time you've given red/yellow card?

Blimey - what level was that?

Whats the earliest time you've given red/yellow card?

Its the obvious question after the 'latest time' thread. Can't honestly remember any stand out early cards in games I've been officiating - but sure some of you have some examples?!

To wall or not to wall... That is the question!!

QPR given an IDFK on edge of area on Saturday - fellow ST holders (who know I'm a ref) turn to ask me what its for. For info, although it looked at first sight that QPR player got caught in the face by a high boot, looking at the replay since, i don't think there was any actual contact - QPR...

To wall or not to wall... That is the question!!

From a football point of view, I've never really understood the need for a wall for free kicks more than a couple of yards outside the area. Would you really expect a GK, with a (relatively) unobstructed view not to save most shots from that distance?

    Shouting/Appealing

Excellent stuff - and of course, for the op, you can always stop the game or wait for a natural break and call the captain over for a public one to one. Everyone has seen that, so if you want to call the next "appeal" dissent, no one can say they weren't warned. Do NOT look at the TV to see...
