THE FA NO LONGER PROVIDING FREE KIT FOR LEVEL 2, 3 OR 4s

Was just about to post this.

I'm pretty sure it was only since the release of the Nike Referee II kit that it was a thing anyway. Start of the 22/23 season I believe (or may even have been start of 23/24). So whilst it's a shame it's been stopped, it's not like it's something that's always been a thing that they've taken away. Obviously they weighed up the cost of the initial outlay before and it was affordable. Since then, they've only had to provide it to the new level 4s, which is significantly less people than now the kit has changed, if they had to provide it to all existing and new level 2s, 3s and 4s.
Thanks for that. I can understand the disappointment but as many others have pointed out here and elsewhere so many more grassroots referees have always had to purchase their own kits.

But with this and the increase in registration fees I’m interested to see the difference we see in the support for all grassroots referees for improved development.

I'm not a 4 or a 3W but just thought i'd pop on and say to check your sizes, I and a few others have made posts about the new 26-30 kit and the sizing is not the same for the top or shorts! I know a lot of stuff you order that is badged you cannot then return so just be aware of that :)

Here’s an idea… do we think there should be an opportunity to purchase subsidised Nike kit at the L4 induction days? I know for a fact that The Ref Stop are there in Loughborough anyway next weekend… 👀

The stopping of the kit wont affect me, already purchased but what gripes me is what incentive do the FA offer to progress? Absolutely they offer the online training but they make it mandated! If you dont do it youre likely to get demoted, if you do complete it it increases a chance at promotion but not by much, think it counts as 15% but then lower if you dont get 15/15 on the lotg exam which they even say you can pretty much cheat on by reading up as you answer.

Im based over in West Cumbria, all the roadshows are over 2 hours away, fitness tests 2 hours away, other than 3 teams in cumbria at step 5 all my ganes are 2 hours away, id say that's commitment in keeping my L4 status however if I was a level 5 going for promotion all I see is being dictated I have to complete this and that and for no reward, no gratitude other than the odd email of thanks.

The kit was a incentive to say thanks for the hard work, a reward for moving up from L5 to L4

Now the reward is being told we have to complete more courses

I just do t get it, whilst still dictating we have to wear Nike 😬

I can understand your disappointment about kit etc, but your comments came across to me at least as being rather negative. Yesterday at Loughborough University there was an RA Masterclass for those that are interested being/or are an AR (be it specialised or dual). There were 2 comments from parents who had taken their daughters who found the masterclass very rewarding with sessions provided by PL/PGMO officials etc. The parents concerned had travelled from Sunderland & Devon respectively - far more than 2 hours each way & no promotion on offer - just learning. If you are ever provided an opportunity to attend an Assessment Day, Referees have to answer 20 questions without being able to look up the answer & with a minimum expected target of 15/20. It’s unfortunate that for most games you have to travel 2 hours away, but it is what it is. If you want to progress, that’s what you need to do.
