The Ref Stop
Think I'd be complaining more about the floodlights, it appears to be dark. Interesting to note that they only complain about it from 45 minutes on, yet by then they were already 3-0 down and down to 10 men as their captain had been sent off 😂

Had them earlier in the season and this doesn't surprise me in the slightest, seems to be a running theme from other stories I've heard

Talk about grasping at straws & desperation & I hope the appeal gets short shrift it deserves & even penalised for a frivolous appeal. There is no doubt the pitch is heavy, even saturated, but the ball was largely rolling from the clips shown. We know that conditions like this does invite sliding tackles etc, whereby it may be the case the Referee could have clamped down on this, but this is a completely separate issue/question.

Would also like to add the player doing the 'interesting' slide tackle in this clip is a NW player, and if it was so unplayable pull your players off at half time and force an abandonment. Not that I condone that sort of behaviour.

Which would have been the worse thing that they could have done and would deserve any punishment thrown at them. However, they would have been entitled if they hadn’t done so, to have voiced a constructive opinion to the Referee at half time as to why they consider the game should not continue for the 2nd half, though with the scoreline as it was & down to 10, it would not have been a surprise that this was gamesmanship, though still not easy for the Referee to deal with.

Also supposedly there was a league rep and an observer at the game so even more likely for them to laugh the appeal away

IMO if they truly believed that playing on that pitch was a safety issue, they should have shown the courage of their convictions to either walk off entirely, or just refuse to compete and allow their opponents to play unchallenged. Continuing to compete and then wanting the result quashed is pure hypocrisy.

Obviously if they walked off they would be charged for causing the abandonment, but they'd be able to request a hearing to put forward their case regarding what they believed were unsafe conditions.

Unless they formally lodged a protest with the referee whilst the game was still ongoing they won't even be able to appeal.

11 goals in a game, but the game was unplayable?

Madness. Typical, down to 10 men, so start looking for any excuse. I've had floodlights turn off once a team is 3-0 down and down to 10 men.
