And I am corrected. It certainly does read that way.
Either way, in the scenario you describe, I think if I did stop play I'd be calling the physio on immediately. You want it stopping, you have treatment, not just a rest.
We are going to get into semantics about the difference between the referee stopping play and the referee delaying the restart of play to ask the player whether they need the physioI don’t think that’s correct (although I stand to be corrected)
The referee stopping the game for an injury doesn’t mean the player needs to leave the field, it’s if the physio enters the field.
Many referees if stopping the game will automatically call for the physio though, as if the injury isn’t that bad, they shouldn’t have stopped it.
The simple way to look at this is if the restart is a dropped ball then the player has to go off for a minute. We are going to get into semantics about the difference between the referee stopping play and the referee delaying the restart of play to ask the player whether they need the physio![]()
Referee gets hit by the ball by accident and possession changes. Player down injured. Referee asks if he wants treatment and he says no.The simple way to look at this is if the restart is a dropped ball then the player has to go off for a minute.
Any other it requires the physio to enter
I’d go off for a minute myself tbhReferee gets hit by the ball by accident and possession changes. Player down injured. Referee asks if he wants treatment and he says no.
Player has to go off?
only joking

Law 5 wording has been changed by the removal of the requirement for a quick assessment, so now there is no time limit.Don't worry about me I can multi task.
I don't think it ever appeared in law. It was always in the guidance notes.
Im assuming the exception for players to remain on field of play still exists so surely there still needs to be some guidance on that? Or do I really need to stop posting and RTFL?
If he's 'injured' call the physio on. Player safetyI just feel like the whole 10 second sub thing is pointless but whenever a team are trying to wind down the clock that player will be ‘injured’ thus cancelling the 10 second rule. I hope I’m proved wrong.
Meaning the player still takes forever to limp off, and they can still make the substitution immediately...If he's 'injured' call the physio on. Player safety![]()
Discussed on page 2, and yes on the face of it this means if the ball accidentally rebounds e.g. from the post back onto the penalty taker then enters the goal a goal is awarded although I am sure that is not IFAB's intent and very unlikely to occur!Has anyone spoke about the change to law 14 and a player "deliberately" touching the ball after a penalty has been taken. Are we saying that if they accidentally touches it after it hits the post for example we can continue?
