“Imminent”

The Referee Store
I had a text today from a local club: “looking like we can start playing again soon. Would you be keen to do our pre-season games again?” (I did a lot of pre-seasons for them last year.)

I quickly replied “yes please!”

Hoping we start again soon ...

People are jumping the gun, and friendlies certainly aren't allowed yet.

I've been involved in discussions and I expect grass roots will be allowed to restart in September. But it won't be like anything we have seen before, changing rooms will be closed and it will very much be everyone turns up changed.

We (NSW' AUS) have had two weeks of friendlies and the second weekend of proper season this weeknd. Victoria is dealing with a second wave right now and as long as it doesn't spill over the border we should be ok (there have been some signs it may already have). England is I think about 4-6 weeks behind us. But watch out for a second wave.

That sounds like half the youth football I refereed before all this so it won’t be much change anyway. And when I played in that league a couple of years ago when we did use a changing room it was purely for a “team talk”, so no access to changing rooms for youth football probably isn’t too much of an issue. Amateur adults teams on the other hand tend to use changing rooms more, so it’ll be a big change for them.

Similar to the model adopted in cricket id imagine. Like you say, no changing rooms, no shared drinks, sanitising at half time (potentially half way through each half too? Just a guess).

You can also get fined and/or suspended if the FA find that you are officiating an unsanctioned match.

Walked my dog past a match on Wednesday night. Looked like an Aintree squad friendly, but there wa a referee there. Crazy for him to take a match during a period where matches are clearly not allowed

Any news on handball seminars though? ;)
I think they've got one planned that covers what to do if an attacker accidentally handles the ball at a corner on a full moon when the wind is blowing east to west.

The session on what to do if a defender accidentally handles the ball is scheduled for next January.

Yes, we are in the same boat here in Canberra. Re-started this weekend after a few weeks of trial matches being allowed in Queanbeyan (over the state border back into NSW for those who aren't familiar with convict state boundaries)

Change rooms at the ground I was this weekend were being used for storage between games/refilling water bottles (Home) and for officials if things get a bit testy after games (Away). Other than that, no change rooms, and I believe the same precautions as in NSW.
