Dont understand how Madley hasn't given that penalty in real time..
I'm starting to agree with McCoist here saying that some refs are relying on VAR.
Take that away, think Madley is actually having a good game.

What gets me is how VAR gives that penalty, but says no to the reckless tackle on Schade at the other end.
Studs straight on his foot even if a glancing touch of the ball.
We all know getting the ball is not something that means no foul has occurred.

The PL being what it is, there may be a view that if the tackler gets the ball, even if a foul is preferred, it is not a C&O error not to call the foul.

What more is needed for the 2nd pen to be dogso?
Likelihood of control. The ball is high and slightly behind him. Not saying he would not have reached it definitively, but there is plenty of doubt.

Think 'plenty' isn't right, there's 'some' I'll agree too, but he still definitely getting a header on goal from 6/8 yards out

Do we just think that headers are a more difficult skill to get right (which I agree they are)?

I wouldn’t say they rely on VAR, but they are clearly always aware there is a back stop! Perhaps that’s the same thing, but I would like to think there is a subtle difference.

We are seeing a lot penalties given on VAR review compared to the reverse. Similar with red cards (I have not stats to back this though). To me it seems the psychology of it is where it comes from. You lose a lot more credibility seeing something that wasn't there compared to not seeing something that happened.

I would love to see some penalty/RC stats pre VAR and post VAR. I think the averages are the same and given currently a % is as a result of VAR, it means referees give less penalties and red cards on-field now compared to pre VAR.

There is chat among Brentford fans that by not giving the first penalty, which was clear, and not giving the 2nd one on Schade that if VAR had to intervene for that one that would really undermine his game/authority.
By potentially not giving 2 penalties, that in my opinion should have been (at both ends) it makes him look weak and maybe people may question his next decision(s).

Not sure how true that could be. Its a thought. It may be ridiculous.

Just struggling to understand how one penalty appeal gets sent to screen for refs opinion and the other doesnt and quickly dismissed.
