Was refereeing kids football and got told I have to give an equal amount of Fouls to each team. Was very confused when he said it don’t know where’s he’s learnt that new rule 😂

If you don't you are victimising one of the team. Also, if you don't give a free-kick to each and every player, you are being discriminatory.

Roy Keane could sue some referees for harassment in the current climate 🤣

The joys of kids footy! 😂 I got told I had "cheated" an u10s team out of a goal. Header from a corner cleared about a foot in front of the line, having no CARs, I was stood on the goal line for the corner. However team's coaches and parents who were stood on the half way line were adament the ball had crossed the line and I had cheated them. "Incident" occurred in the last minute of the game, when the team in question were winning 17-0! :wall:

I has a coach with players standing at the halfline for subs. Our league rules were subs on your own throw-ins.

So at least ten minutes passed and every throw in was their opponent's.

Finally, frustrated, the coach yelled when was his team getting a throw in?

I told him when his team stops kicking it out of play.

My 'favourite' was from years ago at a tournament. Owing to the timescale, exact details are a little hazy, but I did award a drop ball, from which a 9 year old player produced an absolute (for his age) 'worldy' cross that was was met by an equally fabulous and unlikely header by his team mate for a wonderful goal - cue uproar from opposing parents over the 'unfairness' of it all - after the game they refused to take score sheet back to the organisers tent (as was the competition rule) and I ended up getting 'reported' - as you can imagine I was thrown out of the tournament....................................... only joking, but the ref's sec at the time did tell me I was the first and only ref ever to be 'reported' at that particular tournament! :p

One of my pet hates in games is when players complain "ref you're giving them everything!"

As if I arrive at the ground with a quota of free kicks to divide among each team and I'd given one team less than the other!

I just answer that with "I know I amx that's just the way the game is going, though"

:D I'd love to but I always hesitate to engage with coaches anymore than to say what is essential, I tend to ignore such comments

Something else which I found highlighted the ignorance of these coaches happened to me yesterday, I was doing U14 girls and a free kick was going one way. A girl who was offside received the ball and I blew for offside - IFK the other way. This time one of the attackers was offside but they did not become involved in play in anyway. Cue "OFFSIDE! REF IS IT ONLY OFFSIDE WHEN IT'S US!!??" from the manager 🤦‍♂️

It acted as a confidence booster for me though, these clowns really haven't a clue and any criticism from them is mostly baseless.

But I thought that is what happens - but in the current climate, a side should be able to buy a higher allowance of free-kicks.

That's up there with "you're listening to the shouts ref" for me; players quite literally appeal for everything, so even the most vociferous ones are gonna be right sometimes!

These are the type of things I normally act on otherwise it usually gets worse. This simply insinuates you are biased (using a favourable word for him, or a cheat, not so much a favourable word).

In older age games, even if the manager says nothing for the rest of the game, not acting against it tells players they can take a pot shot at you without consequences.
