Refereed an u16 game today and blew for an offside to which the striker whose team got the offside comments "he finally gave us a decision" aimed at me,I then booked the offending player and awarded an indirect free kick against his team was I correct to cancel the offside

Yes ball is out of play. Sent a lad off last week for calling me a dickhead after I'd given his side the free kick!

The ball was dead as you had given offside, that should have been the restart. So, sadly yes, you were wrong in law.

Incidents / misconduct that occur out of play do not change the restart, so unfortunately you were incorrect. Glad you asked
