Back to the original point, you drive from home to uni. Then uni to game. Then game to home via uni. I would charge your rate from uni to game to uni.
If you didnt have a game you would be going home to uni to home. So i suggest you charge uni to game to uni.

You can only charge for the shortest (Not quickest) route from where the appointing officer thinks you are.

I've had this issue. I was told I could only charge shortest route from home to ground. This was Women's PL game.

I have a much easier, quicker route I prefer to use to the 'quickest' sat nav version but can only charge for the shortest route.

Does seem fair enough I have to say.
