Rolling Ball Restart - Advantage

1. Player takes a throw in from 1m inside the field of play. The ball goes to an opponent. Can I play advantage?

I don't see why not.

2. Player takes a throw in 'correctly'. The ball bounces outside the field of play before going to an opponent inside the field of play. Can I play advantage?

No, because it's a retake.

On 2 . . . On a TI that bounces before entering the field, it is in the Laws as a retake if it had been taken properly and to be taken by the other team if taken improperly. (Change ten-ish years ago, IIRC.) So by your logic does that mean advantage can be applied if it was taken improperly and not if it was taken properly? Again goes to the point that this was a messy tweak of the Laws, with certain (rare) possibilities considered and other (rare) possibilities seeming more mushy. But in practical terms, most of the scenarios we can come up with for discussion are unlikely in the real world, past a moving ball on a FK or a bad TI--but even then, in the real world, more often than not, we're likely to whistle it before there is any suggestion of advantage. This was an unnecessary change that just adds potential for confusion.

When they made it possible to play advantage from a throw-in, under the guise of spirit of the game, they justified it by saying a foul throw was an offence.
So for that brief period last season I would have said number 2 was definitely a retake as no 'offence' is committed.
