Not quite sure on this. Care to elaborat why it is mandatory regardless?

I can see that it has to be a caution if a free kick is (incorrectly) given but from my understanding a retake without caution is a good option.
OK, 'MAY take disciplinary action if the kick is not taken, not MUST
This nonsense USBehaviour is a MUST Caution Shirley meeeooooooowww

The only way an IDFK can be awarded here is with a caution.
The *may be cautioned* is in respect of no kick yet thats a retake* situation.
Simple solution. Caution for kicker and tell the defending team the ball was never in play hence it’s a *retake*
If the referee said I cautioned for illegal feinting and an idfk there might be some justification yet an idfk on its own doesn’t stack up. From the videos I’ve seen there is no encroachment by either team which could justify an idfk on its own.

Why are you defending his actions? Would you send a player off who did this? Seems an odd argument to initiate.

No, I wouldn't, it would be a caution for AAA. He absolutely did not headbutt him.

Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a good look and no referee should be doing it, but he also wouldn't be the first. I give you this ...

Umm no because the force used was negligible

(Caveat that I'm referring to player on player. Player on match official 🟥)

Match official on player is a different kettle of fish 🐠
I was there that night, most odd behaviour from him...
