The Ref Stop
If the assessment days are next week from Tuesday to Thursday I would think the FA would have let people know pretty soon as they are in Loughborough
As yet, no emails have been sent, to the best of my knowledge.
The FA have said when and where so if you're in with a shout then I'd expect most to have made arrangements for the possibility of travelling to Loughborough

Submitted my 3w and 6 promotion evidence and match record yesterday so now it's the waiting game (with a fitness assessment to keep me busy this Sunday)

My sauces (HP and Heinz ketchup) tell me that a L3 has received an assessment day invite email. Assuming this may or may not mean that these have now gone out for all levels, along with automatic promotion notification for 4-3 and 3-2b. But that is mere speculation.

Promotions announced on WC 27th so autos might have to wait until then...

I would imagine they'd be discreetly informed but told not to share it, as obviously they won't want people wondering why they haven't been invited to the assessment day if they're doing well, but then equally won't want any knowledge of the difference between those who got it auto and via the assessment day, if that makes sense?

Possibly yes. Thinks that is what happened at Xmas.

I had an email today inviting me to an assessment day, I finished 3rd on the observers table and 1st on the line. Maybe everyone is being invited to an assessment day?!

Depends on how big your pool is. Your line ranking is irrelevant unfortunately, as it's only based on refereeing. Mid season, I believe I was in the biggest pool (110ish refs) and they took 2 automatically from that pool (I believe).

Good luck at the assessment day!

Yeah I wasn't sure on the line markings relevance but cant do any harm! there was 84 on my pool. Thanks, looking forward to it

I don't really have much idea of what is going on BUT are these promtions being conducted on pure merit or is there something else at play?
Those finishing in the highest places and meeting criteria get promoted automatically.

Those finishing in the next highest places are invited to an assessment day and are fitness tested, laws tested and other forms of assesment (clips and scenario based) and are then selected on the basis of their performance at the event.

Remember that it isn't that long ago that all promotions to L3 and above were subject to an interview at FA HQ, and that wasn't in the middle of the country, they were at Lancaster Gate and Soho Square so a lot of travel for the majority of officials. They removed this, I'd guess around 20 years ago, seems they are now putting them back for borderline cases.

Don't think there is anything nefarious at play as those finishing in the top places don't have to go to the assessment day.
