Level 7 Referee
Hi, as a new referee I was just wandering when I can expect to see some matches become available. I'm in Suffolk and have joined the centre circle app. But I'm guessing there won't be much activity until at least July? Is there a specific date when matches tend to start becoming available? Cheers

The Ref Stop
Those of us involved with non-league have already had some sent to us for July. For the local youth leagues I recommend going to as many tournaments as possible as I think youth teams will generally use their own network of referees before contacting Suffolk FA.

When you say go to tournaments. How would I go about doing that? Are you suggesting that instead of just going through the centre circle app with the fa there are other apps and associations who offer fixtures?

Each county has a different way of organising pre-season matches. My parent county leaves it to the clubs to find officials and my other county this season is using the centre circle app. But for now its the more senior clubs Step 3-6 that are looking for officials. August will be the step 7 etc looking for friendlies. Remember June is a free month as such, bar sanctione small sided tournements

Call or e-mail your RDO or the Referee Developers who ran your course - they will advise you how to approach tournaments in June/July.
Friendlies start in July, and again you need local guidance about how to get appointments for these.

Any spare games on centre circle you can pick up would be good, but I think you might have a pretty bare preseason as I know a lot of the 'bigger' youth clubs in Suffolk keep a record of referees that they always rely on for these friendlies. County will be useful for games though from my experience.

Ok thanks. What about adult clubs?

I will contact my local referee development officer to see if he can get anything arranged for me. I've asked around with a few people I know who manage clubs to see if they can sort me out something to.

Also when it comes to contacting the RDO do they tend to respond quicker on certain methods of messaging? For example when I email it can take a very long time to get a response. Do they typically respond quicker to messages on the centre circle app or even WhatsApp or something?

No idea if centre circle will be any help tbh, I think they've had a lot on their plate at the county with the end of the season so it's not been the quickest replies. My go to is usually email for the RDO. The best clubs to contact would be Copplestone or Kesgrave as they have a lot of youth teams.
