This was with around a minute to go of injury time. Wouldn't say there'd been any more time wasting than what we see on most games with a 1 goal difference. Didn't result in a goal, but thoughts.(For the record, I am a Rams fan).

I'm a bit the same. These type of situations, not long left on the clock, team winning, are exactly the ones where GKs historically pushed their luck, leading to the 8 second introduction. In this case, the GK didn't help himself by 'flopping' to the ground unnecessarily having made the save. There were also times when he had an unobstructed option to clear the ball, despite the nearby presence of an attacker. That said, the attackers certainly gave the referee a decision to make by loitering in the vicinity.
Overall, if you're a GK and you see / hear the count continuing, then, like it or not, you need to get rid!

Hard to tell on highlights but it looks like he gets to 1 and blows the whistle not accounting for the final second having to elapse.
I don't think it would have changed the outcome though.
The goalkeeper hasn't helped himself. There was no reason to fall to the ground. Count started correctly at this point and once the count starts the GK has to deal with it because the referee has nowhere to go once he gets to zero (possibly one in this case)

Looking at the replay and the timer on the clip, the whistle went right after 8 seconds starting the count at the earliest possible. But as a referee I would allow more time for the deliberate 'interference' of the attackers. Failing to do so is inviting attacker to do this and it will soon become a trend.

I also wonder if this keeper had taken too long to release on prior occasions and there referee's patience was worn thin.

I watched the match, or at least most of it, and even though I'm a Rams fan, I wouldn't say, imo, the keeper had tested the refs patience. Else, having been a Derby fan my whole life (I'm 35 now), I would've had no sympathy whatsoever for our keeper, as we really don't help ourselves as a team sometimes.

Based on the video timer, it's in the keeper's hands at 7'29, and the whistle blows at 7'39. I'm with others that the presence of the first and then second attackers complicates matters, and I'd have paused the count, but when the hand's raised and the count is going the GK has only really got himself to blame - if he'd have released the ball had hit the attacker then you're coming back for a defensive free kick anyway.

Not going to argue for a second here or a second there. We agree on pausing the count. Also agree the keeper should take some blame but completely disagree with the last sentence. There is no way the keeper should take that risk. We have had plenty videos on this forum (and plenty more we havn't seen) where a FK was not given and some where a goal was scored.

For me referee should be more game aware, the two attackers moved towards the GK to prevent him releasing it.
