In England it is covered by FAQ 6 on page 11 here. So basically allowed but only if the referee deems it to be safe. How do you all handle "religious bracelets" or "religious exclusions" or medical alert bracelets? Do just require them to be taped down...even though the Laws say that jewelry can't be taped down?
To be fair, that is as much use as a chocolate teapot. In England it is covered by FAQ 6 on page 11 here. So basically allowed but only if the referee deems it to be safe.
It is a minefield. There was a fairly recent incident where a female player was refused permission to play without putting shorts on, she was told by the referee she would be fine wearing them over her leggings. The referee was absolutely correct as shorts are mandatory equipment, but she refused to wear them and went to the press, the FA then backed her and chucked the referee under the bus by saying he was wrong and should have let her play without shorts. To be fair, that is as much use as a chocolate teapot.
Doesn't say whether the items are or aren't allowed. Merely says its down to the referee. Which not only puts the referee under pressure, but also means there will be 0 consistency.
