New chapter for professional referees' body
Today sees the announcement of a series of significant changes that will help shape the future of refereeing in the professional game in England.
Sounds like a bad APP.
Have to say, i thought the name was fine as it was, but perhaps with the bad publicity officials have been receiving, especially on the PL, perhaps this was a good opportunity of a re-set & not just with the pathway. Time will tell if there have been any big positives from the re-set (or any positives at all), though I have to say i’m not keen on the name - though I spose it’s not incorrect in any way.![]()

Basically yes imo, but I don’t think it’s just the 2nd half of the season, could be anytime - beginning, middle or end - it comes across as not dissimilar to L1’s, who can be promoted and in theory could move straight onto an EFL Championship game rather than starting off in National League Prem, though in reality, National League Prem is where they are likely to start. It just provides those appointing have more flexibility if they require it at both ends of the professional game.Apart from a name change, What's the major headline difference here, is it implying that referees who are performing well in the Championship this season may get PL games towards the second half of the season regardless of age experience etc? And that we may see more regular PL officials at championship games apart from the usual contracted numbers?
