Notts Forest Vs Brighton

Mooseybaby

Retired big bad baldy in all black!
Any lip readers out there?

Anthony Taylor gives Forest a late penalty after a VAR review. Brighton's Lewis Dunk gives Anthony Taylor an earful which earns him a yellow card. On receipt of the card Dunk continues his rant before walking off. Whatever he said, prompted a definite charge of look on Anthony Taylor's face and enough for a 2nd yellow in a matter of seconds then the red for Dunk!

The Referee Store
Dawson on SSS said at the time it was 2 yellows and Sky Sports text commentary also suggests it was 2 yellows, but on the Sky Sports app highlights it seems it may have been a straight red as there's no sign of the yellow card prior to red coming out of Anthony Taylor's top pocket.

From the highlights, I think it was a straight red. You can see him get the first yellow, and then he says to him "you're f****** bent" (or at least that's what it looks like), which is what the straight red was for. However the Anthony Taylor may have interpreted that, there is no doubt it's a straight red.

Definitely looks like a sending off for OFFINABUS. The inaccurate reporting is a bit annoying because it would have been helpful to reinforce that this is a sending off offence. Anyway praise where it's due for doing the right thing this time.

Is OFFINABUS a three match suspension? If it is, then the distinction between a 2CT and a straight red is significant. Good on Anthony Taylor for dealing with it in any case.

I believe it’s 2 on its own, however given the language reportedly used, might see an extension of that

Twitter suggests it's the first straight red for offinabus for 11 years in the prem. Genuinely outrageous if true. There's offinabus every week completely ignored.
The fact that Dunk just walks off none the wiser after saying it, just proves that players are used to getting away with it.

Looks like Dunk has called him a "f***ing B*llend" and Taylor has given him a straight red.

Some lip readers think Dunk called him a "bald p*ick". Either way It's interesting too see the disbelief on the Brighton player as Anthony Taylor explained to him why Dunk was sent off which as Runner Ref says suggests players have got away with it.

However where do you draw the line though? Would Taylor of done this in a big 6 televised clash? The fact it's apparently been 11 years since the last red for this type of behaviour either suggests players get away with it or its not as bad at the highest level as we might think.

ANYTHING like what has been mentioned SHOULD always be a straight red sendoff. Imagine going to work on Monday and calling a coworker or a vendor one of these terms. You’d be walked out immediately. Yet it’s accepted in the Premier League. There’s your issue.

BBC reporting it was a straight red and 2 match ban, the first for abusing a referee during a game since 2008!

Never been the biggest fan of Taylor, but fair play to him for making a stand. Will other follow suit? I somehow doubt it!
