Censorship
Ekitike showing a lot of immaturity tonight.

Sent off for two yellows.

First was punching the ball in the air with what was deemed as clear sign of dissent.
Second was taking his shirt off after scoring the winner- in a league cup tie against championship side Southampton*. Not the world cup final against Brazil.

Frimpong was very clear to him before seeing the red how stupid he was.
If he was doing it to remind the bosses, and the fans, who he is (with Isak waiting for his turn to start) then he went about it the wrong way completely.

*no offence to any Southampton fan on here. Thought they showed a bit of fight tonight and created a good game.

It was utter stupidity, he knew he was on a caution and there would only be one outcome once the shirt was removed. If I was his manager I'd be fining him the maximum 2 weeks' wages and reading the riot act. He's also probably going to be punished by losing his place, his form meant he had a chance of keeping Isak out, now he's handed him a guaranteed start to build his fitness up more.

From a refereeing perspective must be nice to show a red card when you know there is going to be absolutely zero criticism, 100% of the blame is directed at the player.

Except there are some saying referee should have used common sense as he is young.

Always the way.

But he knew (or should have known) the "rules".

Footballers ain't traditionally the most intelligent of people in my own experience. Tough.

Really glad the second yellow came out. Imagine the precedent set for any future such events and the repercussions for referees had the ref "used common sense" instead. :wall:

I know lots of Liverpool fans and none of them are defending him or moaning about the referee, and they normally take any opportunity to blame the match officials.
Ones on social media. I know lots too but there were loads of posts, especially on Facebook groups that appear as ones i may like (but have zero interest in).

Always going to get keyboard warriors, but I think the vast majority of proper football fans don't have a problem with it.

I have seen and heard a lot of suggestions that the law should be changed, but that is a different debate.
