So looking at this, my instinct is foul throw, but why?
Help keep RefChat running, any donation would be appreciated
I think part of it has to do with the myths out there. If you can justify it in law, then all good. I can't argue with you if you say in your interpretation it is not a 'throw' action.it just looks wrong to me
One action? I guess you can infer that from the law but it is not in the law. In any case I see it as one action even though the action slows down twards the end. The slow motion replays don't help. See the full speed at the start. Thanks for that, totally get what you are saying. Yes he does throw it, but here is where I would like your opinion. It’s supposed to be one action with it start above your head. Is the end basketball style throw a separate action and therefore a foul throw?
Legal throw imo.
One of those where the standard explanation is "looks messy but it's legal".
I messaged IFAB around something similar. Q (for @one) & A below:

So what do you take away from this response? What did it clarify? They say it's "usually considered"? What is IFAB's position on it?Legal throw imo.

With the context of the question they are suggesting that when I see this penalised it is dropped not thrown. So what do you take away from this response? What did it clarify? They say it's "usually considered"? What is IFAB's position on it?
This might help.
Picture that being done underarm. And picture it done with one hand. Now picture that action being done by a referee at a dropped ball. Would you be happy with that action?
I'd say that may also be split opinion, but if I see it at a game I'm assessing/observing, I'd advise the referee to get to the spot and drop it properly, don't throw it (if there is nothing better to discuss).
Player is a dullard but has this ball been legally dropped?
Probably an attempt to manufacture the restart and make sure Liverpool go backwards
