Did anybody have their game cancelled but the home team not tell you? Just me?
Annoyingly I messaged the contact that I had that morning to check the game was on (we had snow but some games still on), no response so I got dressed and went… gates locked none of the 9 pitches in use. I’ve emailed the ref sec of that league but no response yet as I understand the home team still have to pay me?
The home team have since replied saying sorry, my contact (the manager) was ill and said somebody else was meant to contact me.

Varies from level to level, and no doubt country, county, to county
Here if its kids, and i aint heard, i try the home team, then the away team, if cant get confirmation, I turn up. If its off and i have not been told, the league pay me and the league deal with the club.
We dont need to try phone about, but, i like being proactive.

Either way, in your case, you should be paid from either the club or league, whatever your leagues set up is.

as it was this morning, my first game did indeed go off, with a 830an text, my second, a midday, went on, with a delayed ko for pitch to be cleared

Yes, happened to me this morning. Chatted with the groundsman who was there and he called the games off Saturday evening, but nobody bothered to tell the ref! Club will be dealt with and I will get half my fee apparently.

When this happens typically the league will pay you themselves and then recover it from the clubs. I would argue it should be a full fee, would only be a half fee if neither team was at fault, for example you turn up and call it off due to pitch conditions. Here the home team is very much at fault, as you are only there because they have forgot to tell you it has been called off.

It's usually half fee plus expenses. I think the league will take the nice £10 (or whatever) no notification fine for themselves though! 😅

Unfortunately it does happen. You did the right thing by showing up and the league should reimburse

You’ll be squared up by the league, just report it to the secretary.

Tip for anyone on promotion interviews: Always add “…and report it to the competition secretary” at the end of any answer 😉😂
