Well..
Just back from 3 weeks break, wanted a game so got assigned a local district game. From minute we kicked off, clear one team only interested in playing any actual football.
You know when one team act like they get every decision against them? This was that game. Certainly didn't intend for it to come across like this but unfortunately just how the game goes.
Sin binned a player first half for clear dissent, no issues there. Pulled captains in several times for talks regarding some of the moans (pushes, pulls), arging and barging. Seems to make it to half time without any further issues.
55 mins in, same player on a YC makes a reckless challenge in good view of me leaves half his trailing leg in the opponents stomach. Tending to the player, it's all kicking off behind me, once I'm satisfied he's being treated I signal for the player to come over to issue a 2YC. That teams captain informs me if I'm now going to send him off they'll walk off. I tell him that regardless those comments won't change my decision.
Showed him the yellow and then red, he turns as if he's coming off and then launches the spare ball we're using into the adjacent gardens (cheers mate), then turns back around gives me a load of verbal and then shoves me twice in the chest and shoulders.
Honestly I dropped the card in my hand from the force and kinda looked at him like wtf! Straight on the whistle and blown for FT at 60 mins.
A full mass con then going on with various pushing and shoving before everyone collectively leaves the pitch. Another game going on next to us which then interrupts that as well.
Had enough witnesses and submitted the EI, spoke with both CFA RAO and RDO, couldn't be more supportive which as a still relatively newly qualified is certainly appreciated.
I suppose I don't really know why I'm writing this out, I had a good run out on the line at the local academy today and a chance to speak to other referees who already knew (word travels fast clearly), and from my understanding this team have an already poor reputation.
Just annoyed it happens to me, after the S6 in the last game I did in the middle then this, after being coached for 7-6 felt like I was making good progress and now feeling like I've gone a little backwards. I'm 17 games in and to have both a abandonment due to assault and a mass con has knocked me a little admittedly.
Cheers all
