For the first one it is a stretch to say he signalled advantage, and there's certainly zero attempt to play the ball.

Second one there's no way a senior level referee is giving that, yes he leans on him but I'm not really seeing a clear mistake there.

I'd say it's a stretch to say he didn't signal advantage when we see his arm signal first and then only blowing the whistle when the GK won out in the following challenge. Don't think he'd have blown if the attacker had got past!

Second one there is a closer angle that was shown on ITV highlights that makes it clearer but unfortunately is not on the online version.

We have had this discussion previously about DOGSO advantage and I was wrongly in the he can't be sent of party. As they didn't receive any attacking advantage after the foul you've only got one option and that is to bring it back and send the player off.

Definitely unfortunate from a players perspective as he was falling but I think red is the only option there.

Watched the Grimsby v Crawley, the penalty given (by the AR) was doubtful.

But the challenge in the 2nd half, where the Grimsby player is pulled by the back of his shirt should have been. In fairness to the referee, player was facing him, so had no chance to see and wrong side for AR.

On the first one there is zero grounds for appeal. Regardless of whether the ref did or didn't signal advantage, he's brought it back for the free kick which means that in his mind, the advantage didn't accrue, so the DOGSO still stands. Probably better to apply a discreet 'wait and see' advantage there rather than signal it for the world to see, but zero grounds for appeal on the red.

Leans into him? He trips him with his left leg, as well as leaning into him. Ref doesn't end up in a great position and ends up having to run very central. He's then just had to take an educated guess of goal kick, quickly changing to a corner

For the DOGSO, agree with @RefereeX you're better off delaying any advantage signal until you're happy its going to happen in those circumstances. If he just gives DOGSO straight away, I doubt we're discussing it here

Yeah I was imagining a possible appeal along the lines of 'advantage played so was wrong to go back to the foul', though this was quick enough to go back in law so shouldn't really be a successful argument, it can look like giving two bites when signalling like that.

I may be wrong but that first one... did the attacker not pull the defenders arm effectively bringing him down.
This actually then had a knock on affect by the falling player knocking another player down that committed the foul.
I reckon with VAR that that could have potential to be overturned for a foul before the foul.
