Cold/Numb Hands...

I suffer from bad circulation and my hands go blue quite quickly, I had 2 middles on Saturday and Sunday morning this past weekend and didn't wear gloves and whilst I was a bit cold I could still write in my notebook. However on Sunday afternoon I was on the line & I wore my nike running gloves, hands were much better but as I was doing the subs I found it a struggle to just tick off the names of them (I had wrote them down in the changing room beforehand) my gloved hand couldn't grip the pencil enough, too slippy.

Interesting because (unless my mind is playing tricks on me) I am sure fairly recently I have seen an assistant referee at football league level wearing a cap... Sky showed him close up and made reference to it in the commentary I'm fairly sure.

does that mean glasses wearing referees cannot go to the top?

I'm happy I remembered this post with my memory :D

On Saturday morning I was with an assistant referee who wore those Edgar Davids type glasses.

He said when he was running the line last year a ball was cleared straight into his eye, this forced his contact lense to go right inside his eye, the pain was unreal he said. It took them ages to get it out at the hospital.

for me personally, I cant write properly with gloves, I never work with gloves - I like to be able to 'feel' what im doing ...

secondly, if you are moving enough, you should be warm enough?

if anything - id potentially get the under armour tops with the 'thumb holes' in - they kind of cover your palm etc without being actual restrictive gloves

I wear a cap only when it is throwing it down with rain because I wear glasses ... they 'assist' in me doing my job properly, I still don't like the look but needs must when the devil drives ...

gloves, alas, offer no dramatic difference in me doing my job? there are ways and means around not wearing gloves.
 
Update : The other week i had a match on a 3G pitch, of course no complaints about the pitch but by hells fire it was cold, as i pulled into the car park my car thermometer said -2
Walked to the changing rooms and my hands were already numb, so i wore my black Referees Society jacket(with logo) fingerless gloves (black) so i was a happy bunny. Did mention it to both managers before k.o. and they were ok about it.
Half time i'm having drink and i get approached and he introduces himself as the Referees Appointments manager (as there were so many matches cancelled mine was one of only 6 playing) he decided to come down and introduce himself. So i mention the fact of what i was wearing and he was ok with it as long as it was black. So all was happy and i was warm..........

Minty, if you are passing Sheffield you left your gloves in my car!! :(:(:(.. They don't fit me unfortunately!! :redcard:

Thought of that and bought some fingerless gloves(black) even had comments from players saying what a good idea it was and they would buy a pair... but i think at a hefty price of £1 from B & M might be a bit beyond their budget....

Writing with frozen-solid fingers is far harder than with gloved fingers in my opinion. And that's literally the only thing that matter when deciding to wear gloves if it's cold enough.
