Should generate some decent bubbly for the top table at the FA xmas party

How the ref Mr Taylor didn't act on the Chelsea obstruction tackle in the first half is beyond comprehension...

The Ref Stop
Having just seen it on MOTD, I'm shocked there weren't even more cards doled out.

Aguero's tackle was shocking and he deserved to see red (and then some!) for it. But after the foul, most of the players in the area were pretty calm. Except for Chelsea's number 29, who steamed in, shoved Aguero and basically caused a relatively calm situation to snowball. Yellow as a minimum and I wouldn't have been shocked to see red for him too.

And then once things had kicked off, I definitely saw Ihenacho throwing multiple punches in the middle of it all as well, which looked like a pretty clear red. I can't help the feeling that the referee/AR's obviously saw the initial poor tackle, were told to send Fernandinho off by the 4th official (as that happened well off-pitch), and basically managed to miss everything else.

Anyway - 4 matches for Aguero (thanks to a previous ban) and 3 for Fernandinho will almost certainly be the minimum we see after this. I'm intrigued to see if any other players, managers, or the clubs (apparently some fans were not shy in their efforts to get to Fabregas after he went over the barriers) see further sanctions as well.

Taylor was indecisive all game and looked like a little boy lost throughout this episode. If and when the FA look at this closer I'm sure more charges will follow including team charges too for failing to control players... teams don't care because they are minted but if ever points reductions were introduced for repeat offenders then this would lessen such occurrences.

Wow, just wow!

Aguero's "challenge" has to be one of the worst I have seen, serious shocking!

Looking at the post-match stats, Nathaniel Chalobah (29) was yellow carded for the shove on Aguero along with Fàbregas. I think the FA's video analysis guys will be busy over the next 48 hours and the resulting charges should help top up their Christmas party fund!

Both sides were all over the place defensively, fortunately for Chelsea City's finishing was also poor. Not been a great start for Claudio Bravo at City, certainly doesn't look anywhere close to being a keeper who could win you the league. Brilliant counter attacking football by Chelsea, making the most of their chances.

Anyone else think Stone's post match was reprehensible? It sums up the lack of respect for the game and just how dim the players at the top are.
I am sure the FA will study the footage and dish out more offences. The officials will get another look to confirm what they did and didn't see. Both teams will get a 'failing to control' charge.

IMG_2263.JPG With the history of these two it wasn't unexpected! At least he gets the best part of December off

I am afraid if Taylor yellowed Fàbregas and Chalobah, then that will be it for charges. He cannot say he didnt see other offences.

What I can't believe was how slow he has to RC Aguero, a fast card could have mitigated some of the afters.

Can we change the thread title?

I can't even try to defend the indefensible (!) but Aguero got done by a foot-up late tackle by Cahill early on with no card (not even sure Mr Taylor saw it as a foul). [13.10 at

- amazing bias from the Sky commentators too...]

I'll use the C word - convenient! (What if he didn't see Fabregas's slap? What was the yellow for? If he did see the slap on Fernandinho, why didn't he show red?)

If people want to see the other controversial stuff....

The booking for Otamendi at 16.25 - arguably out of control but not as bad as the Cahill foot-up.

Luiz impeding Aguero at 29.20 - I was behind it (60 yards behind!) and he clearly moved to block Aguero - Taylor seemed to run toward it, even put his hand to his back pocket, then well frankly bottled it. I wasn't sure it was DOGSO (at the time) but to call no foul was - Convenient.

Penalty shout at 43.20 first half (never shown again from any angle on Sky or MotD....) and in 2nd half at 32.40. Commentator reckoned dive - cobblers.

And compare and contrast the Luiz block not given with the one where Hazard just ran into Kolarov who stood his ground (33.30).

Two journeyman teams of English football transformed virtually overnight into global soccer superstars with the input of Oligarchs and Sheiks looking for a plaything... let's hope they don't go forth as that could get very messy...

I got that, and have to say I thought it quite clever.

I am puzzled why somebody would want to change it though...?

Can't defend either tackle or team really...not sure how you you can join up the conspiracy of the apparent debt of a company against what happens at FA Towers??

City fans accuse the media of bias against City, which clearly does exist. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-2144359/Manchester-City-The-real-Premier-League-winner-Abu-Dhabi-United-Group-Development-Investment.html
This is reflected in which incidents get reviewed for retrospective action.

And while I'm sure there's no conscious bias, how come a worse tackle than Aguero's only gets a yellow? (Rojo today for the "debt-ridden American tax-dodgers".)

Lol, you're blue goggles are getting darker with age.
Fail to mention the lack of a caution for Fernandinho is the same bloody clip you refer to in your earlier post.
Otamendi's caution is nail on! I dont know why you would even bring it up?
I've yet to see an angle that proves the Luiz one was even a foul, so I think a conspiracy cry is a bit much.
The reason noone bothered with the pen shout in the 1st half is cos you scored the same bloody phase of play man!!! So it didn't matter
2nd half pen shout. Would have liked another angle, I'll give you that, but certainly looked a possible dive from this one

As for your standard Utd pop:
Oliver was atrocious (standard for him) all match.
If Barry has to commit 3 bad challenges to get one caution I say a yellow for Rojo is fair!

Just on those: why would Fernandinho's tackle be a booking if Cahill's wasn't? (Hence my remark about the commentator focussing on Fernandinho's not getting a booking while Aguero lies injured after Cahill's high foot on him.)
....
Same phase of play? Obviously some new use of the word "phase". Mr Taylor didn't give it - that's the issue - the commentator "thought" he got a touch, but neither penalty shout was analysed. You say you'd like another angle. Well, quite. Why didn't you get to see another angle? I'll be quite clear - City fans accuse Sky of bias in their coverage. Where's the continuous loop of Ibrahimovic kicking Coleman on the head? (compare Aguero's throwing an elbow on Reid v West Ham, shown all that weekend.)

As for Fabregas - this clip (from a Chelsea fan I think) doesn't show the slap in Fernandinho's face, but it does show that he wasn't exactly "pushed" over the advertising. https://twitter.com/Jayzinq/status/805057978881687552

Er - director of debt-ridden American tax-dodgers is vice-chairman of the FA.

(Rather like elite referees can't referee games from their home town - oh, except Antony Taylor...)

Not entirely true me ol' mucker!...

Whilst it's true City were transformed and brought out of the wilderness by their mega rich owners. The same is not the case of Chelsea. Yes they were in a financial mess when Abramovic bought the club, however in the decade or so before he arrived, Chelsea reached 4 FA Cup finals (2 wins/2 defeats), qualified for the Champions League twice (one of the reason why Abramovich bought the club) and under the management of Vialli came close to winning the league. Abramovic helped make us challengers on a more regular basis! :)

Chelsea's lowest Premier League attendance at Stamford Bridge: 8,923 vs Coventry City (4/5/94).... 'TAXI for Moosey'???
