The Ref Stop

Alonso's Arm vs Bellerin's head

also to add to that , that if these are the sort of incidents that are to be decided by ''video refereeing'' in the future.... could make for some lengthy afternoons !

Unless we actually get a competent referee doing the video reviewing in which the correct outcome, foul and red card, would be swiftly delivered.

If we get one of the apparently much more prevalent, judging by responses on here, utterly incompetent referees.......we'll probably get an equally swift decision, except it will be woefully wrong.

It must be so self gratifying to be always, always right ... :)

Reminds me of discussions between a typical married couple: one of the two people is always right, the other .... is a man :)

Watching slow motion replays of most challenges is wince inducing. Slow motion turns mundane into murderous.

I think rugby has gone the right way...the referee makes the decision asks for any reason not to give a decision or seeks clarification around something he has seen and might be an infringement. Obviously rugby a lot slower than football with more stops in play...but for controversial decisions goal no goal it could prove beneficial.
