What's the problem with this? Players do different things to relay tactics all the time whether that's simply having a player jog over and tell them, point to where they are putting it, lifting their arms up as a signal, shouting a 'key word' which defines a routine or a player talking to a manager who gives instruction.

What's actually unsporting about it? It's a guy reading a bit of paper ...
