The Ref Stop
Ref should've calmed down action behind him when watching var..
Morocco given a penalty that I think should always be given but you never see it in England (see my post just yesterday) but will be viewed as soft...
Now Senegal should be banned by fifa for their actions from all football for a couple years...

Ref should've abandoned it.
Plenty of yellows for leaving field of play without permission.
Keeper, already on a yellow, approaches the kicker and another player approaches ref before he gets to take it, both delaying.
Send them off. Theyve already delayed the kick by 11 minutes..
The pressure must've been immense.

Shocking penalty though.

Finally seen the disallowed goal and pen decisions, both really poor imo

Blows far far too early and I don't think it's remotely a foul regardless, football contact then slips over

The pen? Absolutely no chance. You wouldn't get that in basketball. Full on flop/dive

I don't think we've heard the end of this, Morocco will try to get it replayed because of what happened.

With VAR in use you just do not blow for a foul as someone is about to make a header at goal, you delay it by a second to allow VAR a chance to intervene. It wasn't a foul, just as the penalty wasn't a penalty. There will be accusations of corruption, I don't think it was personally and rather just think it was very bad refereeing. He was nearly knocked over during the VAR check and took no disciplinary action over it, and generally looked like the the most frightened of rabbits in the headlights.

Good luck abandoning a game with this much commercial weight riding on it....

On what possible basis could they get. Reply?!?
The fact that their opponents walked off the pitch for 10 minutes. If the authorities do nothing that sets a very, very dangerous precedent, the next time Man Utd (picked at random) get a penalty awarded against them they can walk off for 10 minutes and put the opposition penalty taker at a massive disadvantage.

I would expect some sort of sanction, but I don’t see any way that is going to net them a replay.

I haven’t seen-did the R give at least one YC for the delay?

I'll behave myself and say this was nothing more than two truly awful decisions against the same team and congrats to Senegal for overcoming such a mountain.

this. Seemed like a referee not familiar with VAR. it was a bad decision but the whistle timing was criminal.

At the other I am OK with the VAR penalty. Headlock at the dropzone. Stupid defending.

I think Mendy and one Moroccan got yellows once the players were back - but I think for the handbags.

It was such an unusual situation I wonder if this will lead FIFA to have a tournament official available in the comms. They’ve probably been waiting for this chance.

Is it me or everytime I seemed to switch on to watch an AFCON game it was kicking off.
There were a lot of mass cons at the tournament seemingly.

Also, for those unsure, I believe the ref cautioned a total of 5 players during the incident (4 Senegal, 1 Morocco)
